Job Description:

The Role

Entegris is currently seeking a Lead Engineer, Applications to join our R&D team, based in our Danbury facility.

This Engineering position is an opportunity requiring a wide range of skills and experience encompassing all phases of New Product Development and documentation. It includes managing coating projects, developing/optimizing coatings processes, documentation and support of all engineering activities. This position requires a motivated person who is results oriented and driven to succeed in a team-based environment with minimal supervision.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties - Applications Engineer:

  • Lead development and introduction of new unit processes/capabilities/metrology for new coatings applications and support continuous improvement of processes for existing coating products.

  • Work in a collaborative/fast paced environment closely with other NPD members, NPI, Operations, and EH&S teams to help qualify, introduce, and transfer new products to full-scale manufacturing.

  • Use statistical processes to collect and analyze engineering data to set specifications for new products and calculate process capability. Perform process yield and defect analysis.

  • Collaborate with the NPI team to release to manufacturing of new products developed, through training of operations/manufacturing personnel and documentation (standard work instructions, quality procedures, specifications, etc.)

  • Responsible for technical functions in support of engineering activities including documentation management (manage ECO/ECR process, BOM) design, assembly, modification, fabrication, and assembly of equipment and fixturing

  • Responsible for providing timely reports, presentations, timelines and design reviews with/o internal management and partnering customers. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers.

  • Capability for self-directed work and require minimal technical oversight.

  • In-depth technical knowledge, hands on equipment experience and creativity in problem solving is expected.

  • Demonstrate willingness to complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned to support overall R&D activities. Maybe required to assist in training personnel in the operation of new and existing equipment and processes. Assists in resolving problems or concerns that arise during the manufacturing process.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience, Physical requirements):

  • Engineering background with a Masters Degree or higher preferred

  • Minimum 5 years experience in deposition of vacuum thin films preferably by ALD processes

  • Experience with fundamental materials characterization, metrology and attribute testing.

  • Proficient writing and computer skills (word, excel, power point, etc.)

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Ability to communicate cross functionally between groups

  • Must be familiar with SPC and use of minitab

  • Hands-on equipment operational skills.

  • Knowledge of Solidworks and AI tools a plus

  • Process diagnostics and analysis

  • Use of DOE, FMEA, fishbone, 8D, MSA a plus

Additional relevant skills include:

  • Vacuum deposition experience and knowledge of vacuum systems preferred

  • Experience in semiconductor or automation industry a plus

  • Black Belt Lean Six Sigma knowledge a plus
