Position Description
The Anoka County Information Technology Department’s mission is to align and deliver cost-effective technology strategies and services in partnership with County divisions, departments and offices, other local jurisdictions, and the public. The department has an immediate opening for a Lead End User Support Engineer who will perform various duties. Some of the critical responsibilities of this position include engineering and administering the County’s Windows endpoint platform; supporting domain, directory, and authentication services; administering Microsoft 365 client applications and services; and providing escalated support for virtual desktop infrastructure.
This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position. Interviews will take place the week of October 12th, 2026, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Work Location
3This position will work at Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303.
3This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
3Business hours are Monday 6 Friday 8:00 a.m. 6 4:30 p.m.
3This position participates in a rotating on-call schedule, approximately one week every 5 weeks, providing after-hours and weekend support for critical county end user systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

3Lead processes to ensure all enterprise desktop engineering systems perform reliably, efficiently, and securely.
3Research and recommend emerging enterprise level technologies that support end user needs.
3Lead technical discussions regarding existing and new solutions. Recommend strategies to meet future end user technology needs.
3Procure, design, develop, implement, and administer enterprise level end user technology.
3Lead enterprise project initiatives and meet deliverables, including project plans and scheduled with resource estimates.
3Establish policies, procedures, processes and documentation for computers, mobile devices, operating systems, end user productivity applications, auditing, configuration management, anti-malware, third-party patching, mobile device management and virtual desktop technologies.
3Determine standards to ensure all systems remain functional, reliable and secure.
3Act as an escalation point for the most complex technology issues partnering closely with network and systems engineers.
3Ensure routine maintenance is provided on hardware and software. Ensure systems and workstations are compliant with organizational policies and security standards.
3Receive referrals from help desk support and troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve more complex operating errors.
3Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group, and may act as a lead providing daily work direction and managing timeline of weekly activities depending on assignment.
3Participate in a rotating on-call schedule providing after-hours escalation and support for critical end user technology, responding within established service level expectations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
3Requires a bachelor 27s degree and at least 6 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.
3In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
3Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
3Experience in computer hardware, software, mobile devices, server and network system administration.
3Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, database, email and Windows based application software.
3Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
3Ability to provide individual or small group instruction and training in the use of computer products.
3Windows and macOS endpoint platform: Experience administering enterprise endpoint management platforms such as Microsoft Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM), Microsoft Intune, and Jamf Pro, with primary emphasis on Windows, including co-managed configurations, operating system deployment and provisioning, automated device enrollment through Apple Business Manager, feature and security update servicing, application packaging and deployment, configuration profile and policy management, driver, firmware, and BIOS management, third-party patching, endpoint encryption such as BitLocker and FileVault, and automation through PowerShell and shell scripting.
3Mobile device and application management: Experience administering Microsoft Intune mobile device management for iOS and iPadOS, and mobile application management for iOS, iPadOS, Android, including enrollment, compliance, and app protection policies.
3Domain, directory, and authentication services: Experience administering Active Directory Domain Services and Microsoft Entra ID in a hybrid identity environment, including device join methods, directory synchronization, Group Policy design and deployment, login script management, and modern authentication methods such as multifactor authentication, Windows Hello for Business, and FIDO2 passkeys.
3Microsoft 365 client administration: Experience administering Microsoft 365 client applications and services, including Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise deployment and update channel servicing, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook client configuration.
3Virtual desktop infrastructure: Experience supporting virtual desktop and published application environments such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Citrix, or VMware Horizon, including profile and image management and escalated session troubleshooting.
3Preferred licenses/certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102); Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102); Jamf Certified Tech (Jamf200) or Admin (Jamf 300), CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+; or ITIL Foundation.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
3Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades and brightness.
3Standard office environment.
3Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.
3Cognitive abilities required include problem solving, prioritization of tasks, short- and long-term memory, interpreting and understanding written documents, and general mathematical skills.
3Assignments may require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing to assist county employees.
3Physical activity may include repeated bending, stooping, reaching, frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work, and occasionally pushing carts to transport equipment.
3Regular lifting of 20-50 lbs. while moving materials.
3Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment in addition to IT maintenance equipment depending on assignment.
3IT maintenance equipment may include but is not limited to hand and power tools, electrical and electronic installation and testing tools/instruments, and personal protective equipment.
3Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed.
3Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
