The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Lead Electronics Engineer/Lead Computer Scientist (NH-0855/1550-03) to work at Air Force Materiel Command, (AFMC) in the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) for the 309 SWEG\521 SWES\MXDPD located on Hill Air Force Base in Layton, UT. Serve as an expert-level technical authority and Team Leader delivering secure Web Application software solutions for the 309th Software Engineering Group (309 SWEG). In this high-impact role, you will lead a dedicated engineering team, shaping the software that ensures our warfighters maintain maximum weapon system readiness and execute data-driven decisions on the front lines.

What you will accomplish:

- Direct Warfighter Impact: Engineer and sustain vital web applications that directly support military operations, weapon system readiness, and critical tactical decision-making.

- Lead & Mentor Top Talent: Perform official lead duties for a team of professional engineers and computer scientists, coaching them from the developmental phase to the journeyman level.

- Corporate & Technical Influence: Serve as a lead program manager and senior subject matter expert, researching and recommending innovative technical policies, practices, and workflows for the entire 309 SWEG.

Key Responsibilities:

- Technical Team Leadership: Coordinate, coach, and facilitate the daily activities of three or more professional team members, managing assignments and overseeing complex electronics engineering projects.

- Web Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust web applications and software solutions to expand weapon system capabilities and optimize user access to critical systems.

- Enterprise Policy & Strategy: Research, develop, and recommend new corporate policies and processes to streamline software engineering practices across the organization.

- Superior Software Maintenance: Provide expert-level software maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support to ensure high availability and mission readiness of deployed systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- U.S. Citizenship

- Obtain & maintain an appropriate security clearance

- May be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty

- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours

- This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP)

- Must be able to obtain and maintain Cyberspace qualification in accordance with DoDM 8140.03

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Ability to lead, plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.

2. Knowledge of electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.

3. Knowledge of software and hardware test requirements, specifications, and how they are converted into automated test and operational flight programs, along with a knowledge of test system instrumentation and their appropriate design application to engineering testing requirements, and how they integrate with avionics software and hardware systems and of the OFP development environment to effectively accomplish assigned functions and fulfill the mission.

4. Knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, TOs, and/or directives.

5. Skill at software/hardware integration and troubleshooting and at applying professional judgment in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of alternative approaches and in devising solutions or conclusions to highly complex problems, both programmatic and technical.

6. Ability to plan, conduct, and record engineering investigations and inspections; to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions; to plan and organize work and coordinate with other engineering disciplines; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to develop written guidelines, procedures, and policies; and to maintain good working relations.

7. Ability to plan and monitor large and complex engineering or scientific projects; to search out and development new or greatly modified methods and approaches so as to assure applicable objectives, standards, and requirements are met; and to adapt precedents or make significant departures from previous approaches to similar projects in order to provide for specialized requirements of some projects.
