Full Job Description
Burrow Global Engineering is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to support and actively participate in and lead Conceptual, Feasibility, and Detailed Design activities at all project stages. Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Assignments usually include working as part of (or leading parts of) a design team to develop preliminary or detailed engineering and procurement packages for clients at local Oil, Gas, and Chemical plans or other industrial facilities.

As a successful candidate, you will take ownership of applicable engineering deliverables on projects such as Scopes of Work, Panel and Cable Schedules, Load Lists, Electrical Equipment Lists, Electrical Studies, One Line Diagrams, and required equipment configuration, wiring, and interconnection documentation while leading and checking Design team work products and approving the final Electrical Design / Construction package.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES:

  • Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
  • The role requires using advanced techniques and modifying and extending theories, principles, and practices of his field and related science disciplines.
  • The knowledge and expertise required at this level of work usually result from progressive experience.
  • Supervising and providing guidance related primarily to one's own objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and professional matters.
  • Consult with supervisor and peers or experts concerning unusual problems and developments, with requisite documentation of risks, technical details, and impact as appropriate.
  • In a supervisory capacity, plans develops, coordinates, and directs engineering and design projects with many complex features.
  • Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring developing new or improved techniques and procedures. Work is expected to result in the development of well-defined, complete, and accurate deliverable documentation.
  • As a staff specialist, I develop and evaluate plans and criteria for various projects and activities to be carried out by others. Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, and equipment when necessary data are insufficient for confirmation by testing is advisable.
  • Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of staff engineers, other professionals, and designers or technicians; estimates manpower needs; prepares schedules; assigns and tracks work to meet completion dates and budgets.
  • Plans and manages workload, budgets, and project resources, requesting assistance as necessary, including following Change Management notification procedures.
  • Interacts with and provides leadership to drafting/design team members to ensure scope and specification alignment and to develop and review engineering deliverables.
  • Prepares engineering sketches, performs or checks engineering calculations, and develops analysis models for complex project assignments.
  • Adhere to company quality standards and follow engineering checking and approval procedures.
  • Comply with all company and client health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards and federal and local HSSE regulations.
  • Actively participate in company and client hazard identification and observation programs, and immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents to your supervisor.
  • Visit job sites to evaluate the site, project requirements, and conditions.
  • Prepare inquiry and purchase requisitions and bid tabulations associated with equipment purchases. Visit vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements/ specifications.
  • Manages client relationships and develops repeat business opportunities in support of Project Managers.


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ten years of industry-related experience minimum. Mix of Project and Field experience preferred.
  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. ABET-accredited University preferred.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Experience using SKM and/or ETAP engineering software to perform electrical studies/analysis (e.g., Arc Flash Analysis, Load Flow, etc).
  • Working knowledge of electrical design codes (NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE, etc.) is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the design of electrical equipment and systems is preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with NFPA 70, National Electric Code (NEC) engineering and design standards and guidelines, especially concerning power distribution, grounding, hazardous area classification compliance and definition, and system and component sizing and specification.
  • Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.
  • Ability to find a solution for or deal proactively with work-related problems.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions and request clarification as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and direct a project to completion.
