Position Summary
The Lead EKG Technician is responsible for supporting the quality, efficiency, and daily operations of the EKG department. This position performs diagnostic EKG testing, communicates pertinent findings with physicians and clinical staff, and assists with department education, scheduling, documentation, and billing activities.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, clinically knowledgeable, and able to recognize and appropriately communicate cardiac arrhythmias and other significant findings in an acute-care environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform EKGs in accordance with established clinical standards and departmental procedures.
Obtain high-quality diagnostic tracings while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy.
Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and promptly communicate significant or abnormal findings to the appropriate physician or clinical staff.
Maintain accurate and complete patient and test documentation.
Assist with coordination of department scheduling and workflow.
Support patient and staff education related to EKG procedures and department services.
Assist with billing and other administrative functions as needed.
Maintain equipment, supplies, and a clean, organized work environment.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
Follow all applicable hospital policies, procedures, and quality and safety standards.
Education & Training
High school diploma or GED required.
Successful completion of an EKG training program from an accredited school.
Demonstrated competency in the recognition of cardiac arrhythmias.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of previous experience in an acute-care setting.
Prior hands-on experience performing EKGs required.
Experience communicating abnormal or significant findings to physicians and clinical staff preferred.
Posted Salary RangeUSD $38.91 - USD $38.91 /Hr.
