Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Lead DevOps Site Reliability Engineer addresses the critical challenges of scaling and securing cloud-based infrastructure while accelerating development delivery. This role solves operational bottlenecks by driving automation across all phases of the software development lifecycle, ensuring seamless release and maintenance processes. Additionally, the position bridges the gap between development and operations teams, guiding them through CI/CD adoption and modern containerization strategies. Ultimately, this professional mitigates system downtime and maintains platform resilience by leading the response to high-severity outages and platform incidents.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives)
  • Drive automation at all stages of software development, release, operations, and maintenance
  • Deploy, secure, and debug cloud stacks while educating internal engineering teams on new cloud initiatives
  • Support and enhance container orchestration platforms, specifically Kubernetes, Rancher, and Docker, across the Sling platform
  • Provide technical guidance on CI/CD processes and maintain toolsets like Gitlab CI, Jenkins, and Helm
  • Integrate AI tools and automated processes into day-to-day operations to drive continuous operational innovation
  • Lead the response for severity-based outages and participate in 24/7 business bridges to maintain platform uptime

Skills, Experience and Requirements

  • Strong skills in containerization and container scheduling technologies, including Docker, Rancher, and Kubernetes
  • Critical experiences with public cloud environments (AWS, OCI, Google Cloud) and infrastructure-as-code solutions like Terraform and Ansible
  • The ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Robust problem-solving and decision-making capabilities to prioritize tasks and maintain focus under pressure
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Linux operating systems, Bash scripting, and development languages such as Spring, Java, Go, PHP, or Python
  • AI literacy and application skills to leverage modern AI assistants and automated tools for optimizing routine operations and scripting

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering, software engineering, or related field
  • 8-10 years of experience in IT
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience with:
    • Public cloud service offerings (AWS, OCI, Google Cloud)
    • Infrastructure and configuration as code solutions (Terraform, Ansible, cloudinit)
    • Containerization and container scheduling technologies (Docker, Rancher, Kubernetes)
    • Linux Operating System and Bash scripting
    • Monitoring tools (Dynatrace)

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $110,100.00/Year - $157,300.00/Year
