As a Lead Designer, you will serve as the technical leader for assigned projects, guiding design execution from concept through completion while mentoring engineering teams and collaborating with customers and project stakeholders.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, leading project teams, and influencing the successful delivery of high-impact industrial projects.

What You'll Do

As a Lead Designer, you will provide technical leadership for heat tracing projects, ensuring designs are delivered safely, accurately, on schedule, and in compliance with customer requirements. You will collaborate with project teams, customers, and stakeholders while mentoring designers and supporting successful project execution.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead all technical aspects of heat tracing projects, including project setup, design execution, and resource allocation.
  • Review project specifications and develop a clear understanding of project scope and requirements.
  • Develop Project Design Criteria and communicate technical expectations to project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with quality plans, industry codes, standards, and customer specifications.
  • Perform design reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and code compliance.
  • Identify scope changes and communicate impacts to schedule, staffing, and budget.
  • Monitor engineering progress and communicate technical updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation and folder structures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities for team members.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, tools, and procedures.
  • Assist with project management activities when required.


Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, EPC, or industrial engineering environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of heat tracing systems, piping and insulation systems, electrical systems, P&IDs, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor team members.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Project management experience or aptitude is highly desirable.
