Position Responsibilities:

The JOB TITLE: The Lead Cloud Engineer possesses infrastructure and software engineering expertise that will be working with the cloud and product teams in deploying hybrid cloud services, experience, using infrastructure as code, containers, CI/CD pipelines, reusable frameworks, and automated workflows. As a veteran leader leading fast agile cloud-based purpose-built deployments, you will also participate in architecture and design discussions on building a secure cloud platform that will run using a SASE model that extends out to branch networks across the globe. Furthermore, you will also be the anchor piece for our site reliability engineering team in support of this scalable and secure hybrid cloud deployment.
  • Help establish a SASE hybrid cloud architecture that will connect AWS, Azure, VMware, and distributed edge compute infrastructure to handle disparate AI/ML workloads
  • Help build fully automated, secure, and fungible infrastructure consisting of containers and VMs for dev, engineering, product, and operations teams
  • Ensure the cloud has the appropriate security controls to protect the company's IP while managing cost controls

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • At least 1 cloud certification (but must have a comfortable working knowledge of both AWS and Azure).
  • VMware, Debian Linux, Windows, Kubernetes
  • CI/CD Pipelines
  • Tools & automation
  • Hybrid Cloud-based networking and network security (eg SDWAN, WAF, CSG)

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in Information Technology
  • 5+ years Cloud Engineering experience working within multiple cloud platforms
  • Experience with building software factories that house DevSecOps

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting embedded Linux systems
  • Experience in minimizing and securing Linux systems, VMs, Containers and Azure/AWS VPCs in production
  • Experience in helping to implement MLOps and other AI/ML compute platforms is a plus
  • Experience with OpenNebula

Office Location: Clarksburg, MD

Tele-work Opportunities:
  • Hybrid (1 day/week remote, 2 days/week remote, etc.) after on-site training

Travel Requirements:
  • Domestic and international travel may be required (10%)
