Full Job Description
Role and Scope of Position:
Responsible for on-going maintenance and enhancement of the Business Technology suite of digital solutions within the Operations organization, providing the balance between user needs and IT requirements. Responsibility includes leading teams in one or more of the following areas: requirements gathering, project solicitation and management, change management and communication, solution testing, and KPI and report development. Will serve as a subject-matter expert in one or more technology solutions and related business processes, including maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies. Will lead other subject-matter experts who will be participating in one or more functional teams.

Essential Functions: 

  • Develops and maintains a relationship with Operations management and users of the solutions to ensure systems are functioning and used as designed.
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of business processes in organizations using the solutions to facilitate and prioritize improvements.
  • Establishes and maintains a cross-functional group of business support employees, who will be responsible for testing defects, enhancements, regression, and new releases/upgrades.
  • Determines which technology tools will be needed to support all systems; ensures business support group (BSG) employees have access to those tools and are trained to use them.
  • Determines collaboration mechanisms; build email groups, SharePoint sites, and establishes partnerships among BSG to aid with end-to-end process testing.
  • Coordinates with IT team to establish dates for releases, and to determine when code will be available to test.
  • Coordinates with IT team to establish dates for releases and when development systems will be available to test.
  • Works with BSG to write test scripts and identifies regression scripts to run; publishes on team site.
  • Assigns test scripts to BSG, communicate assignments and timeframes when test scripts need to be completed.
  • Escalates any failures in testing to IT team; coordinates retesting with BSG.
  • Approves test results, and ensures evidence is documented on team site.
  • Partners with IT team to develop end-user communication plan and content and ensures these communications are distributed prior to changes being implemented in Production.
  • Partners with IT team to coordinate releases with System Operations Centers.
  • Collects field feedback from users after release to identify any new issues or unexpected results; escalate to IT team to troubleshoot issues.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Subject-matter expert in one or more utility operations technology areas
  • Knowledge of and experience with systems development methodologies and project management
  • Knowledge of the applications development and support process
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required
  • Broad knowledge of technologies and technology issues, with experience in technology change management

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Master’s degree is desirable
  • Project management education/experience desirable

Experience:                               

  • Minimum of 8 years of electric and/or gas utility or related experience is required
  • Five (5) years in a management and/or leadership capacity is highly desirable
  • Must have a solid conceptual knowledge of Information Technology

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

$132,640.00-$147,380.00
