Full Job Description
In anticipation of an upcoming award, we are seeking a Lead Accountant to join our accounting team.

In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing complex accounting tasks, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, preparing financial reports, leading accounting staff, and analyzing financial data to provide insights to the CFO; their key duties include performing month-end close procedures, complex reconciliations, reviewing transactions, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and the FAR while providing leadership and guidance to junior accountants.

US Citizenship is required for this role. In addition, the selected applicant must submit to a background investigation before their first day.

This is a primarily remote position but the selected candidate must live within commuting distance of the Washington Metropolitan area.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide administrative and operational support in a variety of functional areas, including finance, pricing, resource utilization, and forecasting
  • Lead the monthly accounting cycle ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and posted to the general ledger
  • Lead the monthly Invoicing cycle in collaboration with project and program
  • Reconcile each Balance Sheet account monthly
  • Participate in year-end review and audit preparation, tax preparation, and coordination of DCAA audit activities and preparation of required materials
  • Collect and maintain data pertinent to organization budgets, forecasts, and resource management
  • Liaise with program management and individual project managers to support reporting requirements
  • Assist with monthly financial performance reporting to Executive Team
  • Contribute to operational process improvements
  • Assist with the development of standardized processes, tools, and reports
  • Schedule meetings, maintain meeting agendas/minutes
  • Support growth initiatives through knowledge sharing and acquiring relevant certifications
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • E-2 Advance Professional Criteria
  • Hands-on experience with Finance functions such as budgeting, performance reporting, and financial analysis
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to details
  • Ability to lead, train, and mentor junior staff
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment
  • Ability to independently address routine administrative and operational problems
  • Knowledge of government contract accounting rules and indirect rate structures
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
  • Exhibits strong ethics, a positive attitude, and a calm demeanor under pressure

REQUIREDEXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • 5 years of relevant experience (minimum 3 in government contracting)
  • Deltek Costpoint and Time and Expense

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Working knowledge of DCAA audit requirements
  • Experience presenting financial data and reports

EDUCATION
  • Bachelors' degree in Public Administration, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field
