This position serves as a critical link between Operating Company economic development teams, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and grid planning.

This role is responsible for working directly with Operating Company economic development teams to collect and validate large-load growth forecasts and for tracking the performance of existing large-load customers against forecasted levels. The role will also manage internal and external large-load reporting. In addition, this position will have the opportunity to support other functions within the Economic Forecasting team, including AEP's total company load forecasting, forecast variance analysis, and economic impact analysis.

  • Business and Strategic Planning: Lead and own the development of Large Load assumptions for the annual load forecast that supports the larger AEP business planning process. The annual load forecast is used to develop revenue forecasts and support transmission and generation infrastructure planning decisions. Provide scenario planning guidance to Operating Companies and FP&A leadership to support business planning decisions.

  • Executive and Investor Communications: Lead reporting that advises and provides insights to internal AEP leaders within FP&A and Investor Relations to support investor discussions and quarterly earnings presentation materials. Prepare concise narratives regarding Large Load growth and AEP’s future demand.

  • Data Analytics and Management: Maintain Economic Forecasting’s Large Load data sets and related dashboards.

  • Other Economic Forecasting Functions: Participate and support other Economic Forecasting team functions. The AEP total company load forecast includes econometric and customer end-use modeling, electric vehicle and rooftop solar forecasting, and peak demand and hourly energy modeling.
