Large Capital Project Manager
The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
3M drives to continuously improve customer service through a world-class Supply Chain Organization. As a Large Capital Project Manager, you will play a part in shaping the future of 3M Enterprise Supply Chain by executing the most capital intensive and challenging organization transformation projects. Here you will make an impact by:
- Working closely with the Network Strategy team to define project scope, deliverables, milestones, preliminary cost estimates, and team resource needs
- Leading several cross-functional project teams to deliver investments greater than $10M USD from initial scoping through project completion
- Working with global business partners to define project requirements and identify the most cost-effective solutions with the least disruption to operations
- Identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies
- Leading project execution to meet the stated cost and schedule objectives through development of project execution plans and owning the estimating, scheduling, and change management processes
- Maintaining effective communication and alignment with the project team, plant leaders, and other stakeholders through challenging transitions
- Assuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety standards to deliver robust, safe solutions
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start). IT and real estate experience is not a fit for this role.
- Eight (8) years of combined experience in capital project management and capital project engineering roles in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Five (5) years of experience developing designs, equipment specifications, cost estimates, and construction packages in a private, public, government or military environment
- One (1) year of experience with successful project leadership in a stage gate capital deployment model
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication effectiveness and influencing leaders at all levels of a company
- Current, valid driver’s License
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical engineering degree
- PMP Certification
- Prior process experience with webline, converting, automation, chemical processing, and/or discrete part handling equipment
- Prior experience providing budgetary facility/infrastructure cost estimates
Work Location:
- Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the nearest 3M location.
Travel: May include up to 30% domestic/international.
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized.
