Full Job Description
Oxford Solutions is seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Land Operations Title Attorney for a direct-hire opportunity with our client. This role will independently review title opinions and related documents involving surface and subsurface development across Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The attorney will confirm ownership interests, identify title and operational risks, and coordinate curative actions required to approve title for development. This position may also support division orders, acquisitions, land records, suspense matters, and title-related litigation.

Overview of Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze oil and gas title opinions, abstracts, deeds, leases, and related documents
  • Confirm ownership interests involving surface and subsurface development
  • Identify title defects, ownership issues, and potential operational risks
  • Recommend and coordinate title curative and risk-mitigation strategies
  • Approve title for development after identified requirements have been addressed
  • Partner with land, division order, acquisition, and records teams
  • Assist with full life-cycle title matters, including suspense and litigation
  • Provide guidance on Pennsylvania and West Virginia oil and gas title law

Qualifications

  • Active member in good standing of the Pennsylvania or West Virginia Bar
  • 5-7+ years of oil and gas title experience, including abstracting, title opinion review or drafting, and title curative work
  • Strong knowledge of Pennsylvania and West Virginia oil and gas title laws
  • Strong understanding of Pennsylvania and West Virginia laws of descent and distribution
  • Basic understanding of geographic, surveying and mapping skills.
  • In-house experience with an oil and gas operator preferred
  • Previous leadership or management responsibilities preferred
  • Must maintain an unrestricted professional record without disbarment or surrender of bar membership while facing an ethics or misconduct investigation
