Position Summary Cambrian College's School of Nursing has an immediate requirement for a Full-Time Simulation Technologist on a one-year leave replacement basis.
Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Chair, the incumbent coordinates day-to-day simulation operations, supports faculty and simulation staff, oversees simulation resources and equipment, and ensures the effective delivery of simulation and practice lab activities across nursing programs.
- Work co-operatively with faculty to plan, organize and assist in demonstrating labs and simulated learning experiences for the programs within the department.
- Collaborates to coordinate day-to-day simulation operations, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and allocation of simulation spaces, equipment, and resources across nursing programs.
- Liaise with course professors regarding student performance and progress; assist with the evaluation of student's lab performance.
- Explain the correct procedures and principles; where required, demonstrate and coach the prescribed skills taught by faculty in the formal academic setting.
- Attend and participate in regular faculty meetings to provide input and feedback to faculty regarding lab experiences and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with faculty/staff to develop and organize simulation learning modules.
- Provide technical expertise to all programs that utilize simulation as part of their programming.
- Support the planning and delivery of simulation/VR experiences; assist Lab Technician and other staff with programming new simulation experiences into existing software/hardware.
- Coordinate practice labs, remediation activities, simulation sessions, and TFEE initiatives to support student learning and operational efficiency.
- Collaborates and coordinates preventative maintenance schedules, equipment inspections, repairs, upgrades, and vendor support to ensure simulation equipment remains operational and current.
- Collaborates in procurement, inventory control, supply management, and simulation lab readiness while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient learning environment.
- Coordinate health and safety practices within the simulation environment, including regular inspections, maintenance of required documentation, and compliance with College policies, WHMIS, OHSA, and other applicable standards.
- Collaborate with other staff, vendors, IT, and leadership to support simulation planning, equipment procurement, technology integration, budgeting, and long-term program sustainability.
- Maintain operational records, prepare reports, monitor simulation utilization, support continuous quality improvement initiatives, and participate in planning, evaluation, and implementation of new simulation initiatives.
- Provide orientation and ongoing support to other staff and learners regarding simulation processes, workflows, equipment, and best practices.
- Other lab-related duties.
Qualifications Required:
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum of three years of nursing practice experience in a health care environment.
- Self-directed individual with the ability to balance multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities, schedules, projects, and resources within a dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise tact and good judgment when working directly with College staff and students.
- Collaborative and dynamic professional who promotes teamwork and works cohesively within a team-oriented environment.
Additional Assets/Preferred:- Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
- Experience or education in simulation.
