Kubernetes Platform Engineer
The Opportunity: As a Kubernetes Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining distributed and managed platform services, including automating the installation, configuration, and ongoing support of system components. You will tune systems for performance, reliability, and efficiency, plan and manage software releases and feature deployments, and support users through platform consolidation and optimization efforts. The role includes occasional administration of server hardware and software, enforcement of security best practices and procedures, and troubleshooting and resolution of system issues. You are expected to stay current with operating systems, software analysis techniques, and emerging technologies, and to proactively research and recommend future technical directions or projects to leadership. This position also provides technical expertise and guidance in the development or modification of software programs and applications to improve overall platform and operating system performance.
You'll closely collaborate with fellow cloud architects and engineers specializing in hybrid cloud and edge-based platforms to develop, test, and deploy secure containerized solutions. Whether modernizing legacy computing platforms and applications or creating new ones from scratch, you'll have the latest tech and brightest teammates at your fingertips to support national security mission sets.
You Have:- Experience with containerization technologies, micro-service network architecture, and CI/CD tools, including GitLab
- Experience administering storage and networking environments, performing network and requirement analysis, system availability reviews, and risk assessments
- Experience managing, configuring, deploying, and maintaining platforms and integration tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher, Helm, EKS, and Ceph
- Experience migrating applications in hybrid cloud, disconnected, or air-gapped environments
- Experience writing automation and provisioning scripts such as Ansible playbooks, Linux automation, Windows PowerShell, and basic API integrations
- Experience operating at a high technical level across all phases of systems engineering activities
- Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers
- TS/SCI clearance
- HS diploma or GED
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification
Nice If You Have: - 5+ years of experience with general IT or software engineering
- Experience supporting enterprise air-gapped environments
- Experience working in Agile environments using collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Discourse, or RocketChat
- Experience with configuration management and Git-centric CI/CD workflows such as GitLab
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code environments and practices
- Experience with cloud-hosted environments and associated service dependencies
- Knowledge of enterprise IT systems and modernization strategies
- Knowledge of Python scripting, Ansible playbooks, and basic API or automation scripting
- DoD 8570 IAT Level III Certification

CompensationSalary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
