Summary

The Knowledge Management Counsel - Employment, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm's strategic initiatives, is a senior, independently operating professional with strategic ownership of the Employment KM function, direct leadership engagement, client-facing responsibilities, editorial authority, and potential supervisory duties. The role combines substantive Employment law insight with content strategy, cross-border coordination, and GenAI-driven innovation to support the practice and its clients.

Location

This position can sit in any of our U.S. offices and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Independently formulates and regularly assesses, prioritizes, and updates the Employment practice's KM plan in consultation with practice leadership and partners.
  • Ideates, designs, and executes KM projects and initiatives driving measurable improvements in practice efficiency and knowledge sharing.
  • Develops Employment-specific GenAI workflows, prompts, and knowledge resources.
  • Engages directly with clients, including presenting on Employment-related GenAI use cases and KM capabilities.
  • Curates and maintains Employment-specific forms, precedents, and knowledge assets.
  • Identifies and analyzes legal, regulatory, and market developments in Employment law, including cross-border developments.
  • Captures and analyzes market trends and proactively identifies opportunities for thought leadership.
  • Drafts and manages Employment-focused client alerts, articles, and thought leadership pieces.
  • Coordinates with international colleagues on cross-border Employment projects.
  • Optimizes collaboration across Employment lawyers, offices, and jurisdictions.
  • Develops and delivers training programs for Employment attorneys and clients.
  • Acts as an ambassador for the Knowledge Department within the Employment practice.
  • Collaborates with innovation, IT, BD/marketing, and international knowledge teams.
  • Serves as a direct interface with senior firm leadership, Employment practice group leaders, and business group heads on KM strategy, resource allocation, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Performs additional duties as required.


Desired Skills

Deep familiarity with Employment law workflows, including cross-border and transactional considerations. Strong ability to generate thought leadership and translate developments into client-facing content. Experience with GenAI tools and prompt development is strongly preferred. Excellent communication, editorial judgment, and project management skills.

Minimum Education
  • JD from ABA accredited law school. Admission to state bar.

Minimum Years of Experience
  • 10+ years' experience in assigned practice area - Employment Law, combined with meaningful experience in KM and legal practice innovation experience.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work Environment

The firm's expected hiring range for this position is $250,000 - $350,000 per year depending on the candidate's geographic market location.

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate's experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
