Full Job Description
Weyerhaeuser's Dodson, LA Lumber mill is currently searching for a talented leader to fill our Kiln Supervisor role. This role will report to the Dry Side Superintendent. As Kiln Supervisor, you will role model Weyerhaeuser's core values of safety, integrity, citizenship, sustainability, and inclusion by working with other leaders and your team to create a positive environment with open, honest communication among associates.

This position is responsible for the safe and effective operation of three continuous drying kilns & the scheduling and supervision of the team responsible for keeping the site grounds clean, neat and organized. This position will be responsible for developing and leading team meetings and training, meeting productivity and reliability goals, identifying safety, quality and production issues, and coordinating reliability work with maintenance teams. Additionally, the Kiln Supervisor leads the team by proactively resolving employee issues, builds teamwork, and ensures adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.

Key Functions:
  • Provide daily leadership and oversight of hourly production employees
  • Ensure the safe and efficient execution of work
  • Role model safe work practices and facilitating team meetings & training with assigned team
  • Ensure proper job and safety rules are understood and followed
  • Identify safety, environmental, quality & production issues and incident investigation and follow-up when safety or environmental incidents occur
  • Meet production standards and goals
  • Develop and train associates including coaching, mentoring and performance management
  • Support training and development plans to improve skills, knowledge and team performance
  • Support the improvement of key performance indicators and continuous improvement of operational functions and for department budget cost effectiveness
  • Lead the team by proactively resolving employee issues, encouraging teamwork, and ensuring adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) + years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance and/or wood products drying processes
  • Work related experience in leading and ensuring compliance with safety initiative
  • Data driving decision making using solid analytical skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills consistent with managing multiple priorities in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates
  • Willing and able to work all shifts, including weekends
  • Strong work ethic, good judgment and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS in wood products manufacturing or related field or demonstrated relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of safe and efficient operation and maintenance of green fuel burner continuous drying kilns (CDKs).
  • Hands on experience working with dry kilns and sawdust fired combustion systems
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Planning software such as Maximo or SAP

What We Offer:

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $69,300-$104,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
