About the role

To provide scheduled & unscheduled Organizational, Intermediate and Depot level maintenance, inspection and repair of KC-135 aircraft at Fairchild AFB WA.

The KC135 Hydraulics Mechanic II is responsible for performing intermediate-level maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of aircraft hydraulic systems and related components.

Hydraulics Technician II also supports daily flight line operations, resolves system discrepancies, and works closely with crew chiefs and specialty shops to maintain aircraft mission readiness.

This position ensures the reliable operation of KC135 hydraulic subsystems by following Air Force technical orders, safety protocols, and maintenance standards.

The position is based at Fairchild AFB and may require domestic and international travel to meet Air Force mission needs.

This role is contingent upon contract award.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing, and inspections on KC-135 hydraulic systems including landing gear, flight controls, pumps, actuators, reservoirs, valves, and associated lines.

2. Troubleshoot hydraulic malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, pressure gauges, diagnostic equipment, and hydraulic test stands.

3. Remove, repair, overhaul, install, and test hydraulic components and assemblies such as pumps, accumulators, actuators, selectors, hoses, and manifolds.

4. Conduct operational and functional checks of hydraulic systems to verify proper pressure, flow, and response characteristics after maintenance actions.

5. Inspect hydraulic lines, fittings, and connections for leaks, wear, foreign object damage, contamination, and proper routing.

6. Perform contamination control procedures, sample and analyze hydraulic fluid, and carry out de-servicing, servicing, and flushing operations as required.

7. Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance actions in aircraft forms, digital maintenance systems, and discrepancy logs in accordance with Air Force standards.

8. Maintain strict compliance with technical orders, safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out procedures, PPE requirements, and quality assurance guidelines.

9. Coordinate hydraulic-related maintenance with crew chiefs, APG personnel, avionics, propulsion, and other specialty shops to resolve cross-system discrepancies.

10. Support phase, isochronal, and special inspections, identifying discrepancies, recommending corrective actions, and verifying system integrity.

11. Ensure proper tool accountability, equipment calibration, and safe operation of hydraulic servicing and testing equipment.

12. Maintain strict adherence to technical orders, safety protocols, quality assurance procedures, and proper use of required PPE.

13. Support other duties assigned by the Site Supervisor or Shift Lead.

About you
We'd love to hear from you if you have:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced aviation maintenance training or military technical school preferred

2. Minimum 3-5 years of aircraft hydraulic experience, preferably on KC-135 or comparable large military aircraft.

3. Active or ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

4. Must obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).

5. Must obtain a passport for OCONUS travel.

6. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and possess a motor vehicle driver's license.

7. Knowledge of hydraulic theory, pressure regulation, contamination control, and aircraft hydraulic system operation.

8. Ability to interpret technical orders, hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, and maintenance manuals.

9. Skilled in the use of hydraulic test equipment, pressure gauges, precision measuring devices, and aircraft servicing tools.

10. Strong troubleshooting abilities with the capability to work independently or as part of a maintenance team

11. Solid understanding of Air Force technical order compliance, quality assurance processes, and flight line safety standards.

2. $39.58 hr. wage.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

1. This position requires normal physical functions.

2. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing.

3. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.

4. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions.

5. Normal color/depth perception and no record of emotional instability are required.

6. May be required to work in areas in or near a hangar/ flight line that may be noisy at times.

7. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind.

8. May be required to wear personal protective equipment when in or passing thru a hazardous area.

10. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud at times.
