Full Job Description
The Technology & Innovation Teacher is responsible for teaching and developing Wise School's K-6 technology curriculum. This position provides engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction that helps students use technology safely, responsibly, creatively, and effectively. You will serve approximately 19 classes across K-6 and will maintain and refine the school's existing technology scope and sequence as technology and educational practices evolve. This is an instructional position; technology infrastructure, hardware, and systems support are managed by Wise School's IT department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach engaging technology and innovation lessons for students in grades K-6.
  • Maintain a positive classroom environment and demonstrate strong classroom management.
  • Teach digital literacy, digital citizenship, privacy, safety, and responsible technology use.
  • Provide instruction in computational thinking, coding, programming, digital creation, multimedia, research, information literacy, and problem-solving.
  • Introduce emerging technologies, including developmentally appropriate AI literacy and responsible AI use.
  • Implement, evaluate, and refine the existing K-6 technology scope and sequence.
  • Maintain a coherent progression of technology skills and experiences across grade levels.
  • Align curriculum with relevant standards and educational best practices.
  • Evaluate and recommend new educational technologies, tools, and learning experiences based on instructional value.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to meaningfully integrate technology into curriculum and student projects.
  • Serve as an instructional technology resource for faculty, including introducing new tools, supporting implementation, and providing occasional training.
  • Manage instructional technology subscriptions and digital resources as assigned.
  • Coordinate with the IT department when technical or systems support is required.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and school programs as required.
  • Attend school functions that support the school's mission and vision, both during and outside the normal school day.
  • As a key staff member in our religious educational institution, role-model the tenets of our faith on a daily basis to our members and the broader Temple community; participate in transmitting the expectations and values of our faith, playing a critical and essential role in the Temple's ability to minister to the daily needs of our students and members.
  • Standard school hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and unless otherwise approved, you are expected to be on site during those hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Teaching credentials are not required.
  • Experience teaching or working with elementary-aged students.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Experience with educational technology, computer science, STEM, coding, digital media, innovation, or a related area.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate technology use for children.
  • Familiarity with Apple devices and educational technology platforms.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI tools and responsible AI use in education.
  • Ability to learn and evaluate new technologies as the field evolves.
  • School-based teaching experience and curriculum development experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to sit on the floor and get up and down with ease.
  • Must be able to move quickly and respond to children in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to see, hear, and respond to children's needs, including during active play.
  • Must be able to work indoors or outdoors as needed, in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Have visual acuity including close and distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Pay range: $80,000 - $95,000/Year. We offer medical, dental, vision as well as supplemental insurances. Position works 43 weeks of school year, paid over 12 months.
