PURPOSE STATEMENT To create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth in addition to establishing effective rapport with students assigned to the classroom.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
- Maintains a safe environment for students, conducive to learning.
- Teaches district-approved curriculum.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Models lessons for students.
- Uses effective Classroom Management techniques.
- Establishes, shares, and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Anticipates and effectively addresses unforeseen crises associated with working with large groups of students.
- Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
- Oversee classroom employees, students and volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.
- Ability to focus (adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.
- Must be able to work in heat and cold (outside seasonal temperatures).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION: Bachelor's or Master's degree or Doctorate from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Academic background and coursework in the discipline of the position to be filled. Successful teaching experience and effective work with elementary school age students preferred. Previous teaching experience with English Language Learners highly preferred.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement. Must maintain as current any certification or license listed herein and held at hire date.
CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING: Valid Washington State teaching certificate with relevant endorsement required. Must maintain as current any certification or license listed herein and held at hire date.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTStarting Date: 2026-2027 School Year (182 total contracted days)
Salary: $63,612 - $122,620 annual salary. Based on education and experience Per OEA CBA - 2025-2026 Salary Schedule
Retirement: Pension through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems
