Junior Hydrogeologist Physical Hydrogeology EIT / GITWe are seeking a
Junior Groundwater Modeller / Hydrogeologist to join our growing
Hydrogeology team. Our team supports a diverse range of mining and other sector projects, with expertise spanning hydrogeological investigations, groundwater monitoring, data analysis, hydrogeological assessment, and groundwater modelling. You'll work alongside experienced hydrogeologists and multidisciplinary teams, gaining hands-on field and consulting experience while contributing to practical solutions and the continued growth of our Hydrogeology practice.
The Role:As a
Junior Groundwater Modeller, you'll build your technical expertise and gain hands-on experience supporting groundwater modelling and hydrogeological projects. You'll work closely with experienced hydrogeologists and modellers, applying hydrogeological principles, analyzing data, and contributing to practical solutions for groundwater challenges across engineering and mining projects.
You will:
- Project Delivery: Support hydrogeological assessments and groundwater modelling projects through data analysis, field programs, modelling, and technical deliverables.
- Field Investigations: Participate in geological, geotechnical, and hydrogeological field investigations and monitoring programs to support data collection and site understanding.
- Data Analysis: Compile, manage, analyze, and visualize geological and hydrogeological data to support conceptual site models, groundwater assessments, and modelling.
- Groundwater Modelling: Assist with the development and refinement of conceptual and numerical groundwater models, including model setup, calibration, sensitivity analysis, scenario development, and interpretation of results.
- Technical Tools: Apply hydrogeological principles using groundwater modelling, GIS, visualization, and analytical tools to support project delivery and data analysis.
- Technical Deliverables: Contribute to technical reports, figures, maps, cross-sections, data summaries, modelling documentation, and other project deliverables.
- Collaboration & Problem Solving: Work effectively with hydrogeologists, engineers, geologists, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to solve groundwater-related problems and support project delivery.
- Technical Development: Build technical and consulting skills in conceptual and numerical modelling, data analysis, and interpretation while supporting the development and application of new techniques and workflows.
What We're Looking For:- Typically, 0-4 years of relevant experience in hydrogeology, groundwater modelling, engineering consulting, mining, or a related field.
- Exposure to conceptual and numerical groundwater modelling, including conceptual site model development and interpretation of model results.
- Exposure to one or more groundwater modelling platforms such as FEFLOW, MODFLOW, HydroGeoSphere, GoldSim, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of groundwater flow and numerical modelling concepts, including finite difference and/or finite element methods.
- Experience or coursework in hydrogeological data analysis and visualization using tools such as Surfer, Leapfrog, CAD, or equivalent.
- Experience with Python, scripting, or other programming languages for data analysis, modelling, visualization, or workflow automation is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and apply technical knowledge to groundwater problems.
- Bilingual (English and French) communication ability is an asset.
Education & Certifications:- Master's or PhD degree in Mathematics, Physics, Hydrogeological Sciences, Geology, Civil, Environmental, Mining Engineering, or a related field is an asset.
- Eligibility for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) is an asset
Compensation:This position spans a range of early-career experience levels. The final compensation package will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and overall fit for the role.
- Canada $72,000 - $102,000 CAD per year + Benefits + Bonus
