Full Job Description
The Kinetic Effects Business Area, within the Leidos Defense Sector, has an opportunity for a Junior Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer to work at our Huntsville, AL campus supporting design and analysis of missile and aviation systems.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Creation and modification of CAD geometry using SolidWorks
  • Complex surface and volume mesh generation using Pointwise commercial meshing software
  • Flowfield simulations using a variety of commercial and government CFD software
  • Post-processing of flowfield simulations using Tecplot and Paraview visualization software
  • Collection, plotting, and analyzing aerodynamic force & moment coefficients
  • Documentation and presentation of results to peers, managers, and customers


Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
  • This position requires a minimum of a BS in Aerospace Engineering, or related field, from an ABET-accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience required with BS degree or a Masters degree and less than 2 years of experience required.
  • Candidate must possess a fundamental understanding of CFD, fluid dynamics, and compressible aerodynamics
  • Candidate must possess a solid foundation of programming experience in Matlab, C/C++, Python, or other language
  • Candidate must possess strong technical communication skills and an ability to work both independently and in collaborative team environments
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area, or willing to relocate, to work on-site at the Huntsville, AL campus
  • Candidate must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and keeping a DoW security clearance


Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:
  • MS in Aerospace Engineering, or related field, from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Experience using commercial or government CFD software
  • Experience using commercial CAD software
  • Experience meshing complex geometries using commercial or government meshing software
  • Experience with Linux OS and high-performance computing
  • Experience supporting the design and evaluation of flight vehicles
