On 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Position Summary: Responsible for defining, measuring and managing the quality requirements for A320 Family aircraft assembly jigs, tools, and measurement systems at the Final Assembly Line (FAL) - USA.

Your Challenges:
  • Define Quality Assurance (QA) requirements in the technical specifications for Airbus Jigs, tools and measurement systems.
  • Coordinate and lead QA measures with Jigs, tools and measurement systems suppliers and monitor their implementation.
  • Participate in supplier evaluation, pre-development production concepts, defining testing characteristics, and verifying that new production and control means align with established requirements.
  • Define and conduct all relevant QA activities (Verification and validation, measurement system analysis, inspection plans...)
  • Conduct product testing in manufacturer and purchaser sites. Including but not limited to acceptance, commissioning and validation tests from small standalone tooling to entire production lines and integrated industrial systems.
  • Coordination of logistical activities related to testing and support coordinate metrology tasks on new and in production means.
  • End to end non-conformity management during the design, manufacturing and commissioning phases for all relevant products. Including investigation, correspondence, resolution and documentation.
  • Perform troubleshooting by determining root causes of errors and both initiating and verifying the effectiveness of remedial measures.
  • Collaborate with development teams to analyze requirements, define measurement means and processes, evaluate uncertainty, and design and implement robust measurement systems.
  • Evaluate and cascade geometric and dimensional tolerances from high-level requirements to the specific product, ensuring that tooling capabilities are fully aligned with the necessary task specifications.
  • Provide production support for measurement and tolerancing issues. Assist with the resolution of non-conformities.
  • Provide reporting on all assigned projects.
  • Operate all applicable process steps in the FU.IN.03.02 (Develop and Realize Integrated Industrial Systems and Jigs & Tools) and FU.IN.03.06 (Implement Measurement Systems) Airbus processes.

Other duties as assigned:
  • Propose changes to improve the relevant processes, resolve process non-conformances and contribute to process risk analysis management
  • Lead special projects assigned by the manager.
  • Support the operational day to day activities for the FAL including coordinating subcontractor activities on the site. Oversee/lead root cause analysis investigations. Audit reports/documentation for accuracy/thoroughness.
  • Support other departments as needed.
  • Act as a technical expert to call for tender processes including contributing to creation of subcontract specifications and scope of work statements.
  • Provide technical and subcontracting advice and counsel to program managers, engineering personnel, and other related functions such as finance, quality and contract administration.
  • Responsible for tracking, follow-up and report on corrective action plans regarding service delivery.

Your Boarding:
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
  • 5 or more years experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing environment
  • 5 or more years experience implementing and utilizing measurement systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing quality requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic/electrical systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tolerancing and metrology concepts and industrial applications
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, etc.)

Licensure/Certifications:
  • Related technical certifications preferred (GD&T, Metrology, QA/QC, CAD...)
  • OSHA certifications preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
  • Strong technical capabilities (analysis of system/machine function, root cause analysis of equipment failures, experience with measurement/electric/pneumatic/hydraulic/PLC systems).
  • Data analysis and presentation skills - ability to technically explain tooling/equipment issues.
  • Strong organization skills - able to oversee many ongoing topics
  • Flexibility to quickly shift priorities based on the needs of the FAL.
Communication Skills:
  • Capable of managing complex topics with many stakeholders. Strong communication and leadership skills to facilitate resolution of urgent maintenance topics.
Technical Systems Proficiency:
  • Catia experience preferred.
  • Experience with coordinate metrology software.
  • Microsoft or Google suite applications.

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
