Java Web Application Developer

Location: Remote

Clearance: Secret or higher

The Test and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA) program at Leidos is looking for a Java Web Application Developer to join our team! Our mission is to develop tools for the United States Department of Defense test and training communities, to increase the speed of the development cycle, to get capabilities to the warfighter more rapidly. The Java Web Application Developer will work within a team of engineers and developers to design, build, test and maintain web applications that provide key capabilities for our enclaves.

This position is located in Alexandria, VA and eligible for remote work.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Join an existing team of web developers to provide full-stack web applications that support operational requirements.
• Document and validate web application requirements.
• Develop automated tests that align with test plans.
• Provide architectural design and development support to fulfill web application requirements.
• Participate in software design discussions and recommend use of relevant tools, technologies and techniques.
• Aid in refactoring/updating existing web applications to add new features and improve reliability and performance.
• Ensure compliance with software security requirements by reviewing the cybersecurity posture of web applications.

Basic Qualifications:

• US Citizen with at least an active Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree and 2+ years of prior relevant experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
• 3+ years of experience developing, deploying, and maintaining full-stack web applications and software systems
• 2+ years of experience identifying and validating requirements for software applications
• 2+ years of experience with web UI components including HTML, CSS, JavaScript (NodeJS) and Angular
• 2+ years of demonstrated ability to design and build RESTful web services
• 2+ years of experience with Java EE/Jakarta EE integration, Servlets and JDBC
• Experience with PostgreSQL or equivalent and SQL queries
• Solid grasp of Object-Oriented Programming principles, Java EE (Streams, Lambda expressions), Collections framework, and Exception handling

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience developing, deploying, and maintaining full-stack web applications and software systems
• 3+ years of experience with web UI components including HTML, CSS, JavaScript (NodeJS) and Angular
• 3+ years of experience with Java EE/Jakarta EE integration, Servlets and JDBC
• 3+ years of demonstrated ability to design and build RESTful web services using JSON
• 2+ years of experience with PostgreSQL or equivalent and SQL queries
• Experience with Static Application Security Testing (OWASP, Coverity, SonarQube) and software security compliance
• Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Programming principles, Java EE (Streams, Lambda expressions), Collections framework, and Exception handling
• Self-starter with strong analytical and interpersonal skills and test-driven development experience
