Overview of the Role

The Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst is a senior-level position within the Markets Treasury Technology team, specifically focusing on the Money Markets domain. This role is responsible for establishing, designing, and implementing highly resilient, scalable, and performant application systems and microservices in coordination with global technology and business partners.

The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis, architecture, and programming activities, driving the modernization of our Treasury and Money Market platforms using Java, Spring Boot, and MongoDB in a cloud-native environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Lead the design, development, and deployment of high-throughput, low-latency transactional systems and microservices for Money Market trading, funding, and trade life cycle management.
  • Business & Function Integration: Partner with Markets Treasury business desks, product managers, and multiple management teams to align technology solutions with business goals, identifying and defining system enhancements to support new financial products and process improvements.
  • Architecture & Design: Provide subject matter expertise in modern application design, ensuring that all microservices and system integrations adhere to the firm's overall architecture blueprints, security standards, and cloud-native principles.
  • Problem Solving & Performance Tuning: Resolve high-impact, complex technical and business process issues. Conduct in-depth evaluation of system flows, database performance (MongoDB), data ingestion pipelines, and API exposure layers to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Standards & Best Practices: Establish and enforce robust standards for clean coding, comprehensive testing (unit, integration, and performance), debugging, and automated deployment.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration: Serve as a technical advisor, coach, and mentor to mid-level and junior developers, allocating work, conducting code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Risk & Compliance: Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding the organization, its clients, and assets. Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating control issues with transparency.


Recommended Qualifications
  • Experience: 10+ years of hands-on application development and technical leadership experience in the financial services domain, with a strong focus on Markets Treasury, Money Markets, and Trade Lifecycle Management.
  • Core Tech Stack Expertise:
    • Deep, hands-on expertise in Core Java (Java 17+) and the Spring Boot ecosystem (Spring Cloud, Spring Security, Spring Data).
    • Strong experience with NoSQL databases, specifically MongoDB (document modeling, aggregation framework, indexing, sharding, and performance tuning).
  • Domain Knowledge (Money Markets & Treasury Accounting):
    • Strong understanding of core financial and treasury accounting concepts, including PAA (Profit Attribution Analysis), PnL (Profit and Loss) calculation/attribution, Accrual accounting (accrual interest, amortization, and yield calculations for Money Market instruments), and Risk calculations(IRDL and CRDL)
    • Proven experience integrating trading and treasury platforms with downstream ledger, accounting, and books & records systems for seamless PnL, accrual processing, and financial reconciliation.
  • Performance & Scalability: Demonstrated experience diagnosing and solving complex performance issues across the entire application flow (including database queries, messaging ingestions, and API exposure layers).
  • Cloud-Native & Modern Architecture:
    • Expertise in cloud-native development principles, designing and building highly resilient, scalable, and observable services (using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry) in a cloud or containerized environment (e.g., OpenShift, AWS).
    • Experience with distributed caching (e.g., Redis, GemFire) and event-driven architectures using messaging middleware (e.g., Kafka, Solace).
  • SDLC & Tools:
    • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Tekton, or Harness), Git, Scrum/Agile methodologies, and JIRA.
    • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and a proven track record of leveraging AI to accelerate day-to-day development tasks, code generation, and optimization.
  • Leadership & Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and consensus-building skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical business partners.
    • Strong project management, prioritization, and organizational skills, with the ability to adjust priorities quickly in a dynamic environment.


Education
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
