Our West Coast Transportation team is looking for an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Associate to provide local senior leadership for West Coast ITS projects and pursuits while working as part of the Americas ITS / Intelligent Mobility team. Seattle is the preferred location, with consideration for other West Coast Arup offices (Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego). The role will support a growing ITS business across the Americas, with a focus on West Coast clients, projects, and pursuits.
The Opportunity
The ITS / Intelligent Mobility team supports public agencies, airports, campuses, and infrastructure owners on projects that combine transportation operations, technology, systems engineering, and implementation. Example work includes:

Responsibilities
• Support Regional Leader to grow Americas ITS business leading the Westcoast geography.
• Lead ITS / Intelligent Mobility assignments from planning and Concept of Operations through design, systems engineering, deployment support, testing, and operations consulting.
• Manage task orders and work packages, including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, risk, and deliverable quality.
• Provide senior technical review for ITS plans, specifications, requirements, cost estimates, Concept of Operations documents, and systems acceptance testing materials.
• Support business development, client relationships, capture planning, proposals, and interviews for ITS-led and ITS-supported work.
• Work across roadway, transport planning, civil, electrical, digital, systems, advisory, and operations teams to integrate ITS into multidisciplinary projects.
• Mentor junior and mid-level staff and help build West Coast ITS delivery capacity.
Is this role right for you?
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, electrical engineering, communications engineering, systems engineering, planning, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in ITS, traffic operations, transportation technology, intelligent mobility, or related infrastructure work.
• Experience leading projects, task orders, or major work packages, including client coordination, scope, fee, schedule, staffing, and quality control.
• Experience with public-sector transportation clients. West Coast DOTs, transit, airport, campus, city, or smart mobility experience is preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• PE preferred. AICP, PTOE, PMP, RSP, CCNA, systems engineering credentials, or comparable qualifications are also relevant.

San Diego Hiring Range - Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in San Diego is $180,000 to $200,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of San Diego will differ.
