Description
Washington state residency is required upon hire.
Reporting to the Senior IT Systems Administrator, this position works to configure and maintain a technological infrastructure that is free from service interruptions, ensures consistent resource availability and configuration, and protects our agency and customer information from damage or inadvertent disclosure. This position is responsible for configuring, deploying, and maintaining network infrastructure, servers, client devices, and both server and user-assigned applications in a manner that reflects these goals.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Monitoring and maintaining the agency's resources in Azure Active Directory, Entra ID, and other related identity services.
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and configuring agency cloud applications as directed.
  • Configuring, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting all network infrastructure devices.
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, modifying, generating, understanding, and maintaining familiarity with a wide variety of PowerShell scripts of varying levels of complexity.
  • Deploying, troubleshooting, configuring, and updating applications on both servers and user-assigned devices, reviewing the results using installation and event logs to ensure maximum deployment effectiveness.
  • Providing supplementary assistance with the help desk.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Four (4) years of experience administering Windows Server in Active Directory domains.
  • Four (4) years of combined experience providing desktop support to clients on Windows 7, Windows 10, or Windows 11.
  • Two (2) years admin experience for Microsoft Exchange and/or Exchange Online.
  • Two (2) years of experience configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting switches and routers in an enterprise environment.
  • Two (2) years of experience in enterprise firewall administration, with emphasis on firewall rule creation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
The experience may have been gained concurrently.

Desired Qualifications
  • Significant familiarity with Windows PowerShell.
  • Significant experience managing and configuring an enterprise Active Directory environment using Group Policy.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining SAML single sign-on environments.

Notes:
  1. This is a hybrid position. The position may work remotely, but will be required to work in the Olympia Office on occasion. Washington State residency is required upon hire.
  2. Extended hours and/or work on weekends/holidays may be required if the need arises.
  3. Travel is required on occasion to the eight BIIA facilities around the state, and to attend training and meetings.
  4. This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees.
