As an IT Specialist (Systems Administration), you will perform the following duties:
- Serve as a Systems Administrator for the Information Management Office (IMO), responsible for the installation, operation, management and utilization of Information Technology (IT) systems and software/hardware solutions. Identify and implement procedures to resolve diagnostic, monitoring and performance issues.
- Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the infrastructure systems. Provide expertise on guidelines and processes concerning the operation, implementation and use of information technology systems, services, and activities.
- Serve as a technical authority providing advice on IT methodology and techniques. Lead and manage IT projects, collaborate with IT and business teams assessing new technologies, methods, and approaches to modernize and improve existing Infrastructure solutions.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:- Must be able to obtain and maintain Microsoft Windows Systems Administration certification.

Conditions of employmentThis position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band.
The ZP-4 is equivalent to the GS-13/14.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify for the 2210 series:IT COMPETENCIES: For all position's individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. -AND-To qualify at the ZP-4 or GS-13 level:SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to meeting the IT Competencies above, applicants must also possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZP-3 or GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
- Identifying and recommending improvements to increase Information Technology (IT) performance and efficiency;
- Testing, troubleshooting, or maintaining Information Technology (IT) software and security systems; and
- Providing technical guidance or support to personnel on IT systems such as advising on policies or procedures or preparing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
