Summary

In this position you will evaluate system security plans and procedures and assist in managing and directing the operations and functions of the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer's Compliance Division. An ideal candidate will be Security+ CE certified with experience in conducting analysis of security assessment results and developing and reviewing documentation to support well-informed risk-based decisions.

What will I do in this position if hired?

In this position, you will as an IT Specialist (INFOSEC). Typical assignments include:

  • Providing oversight of Information Systems Security Officer's in the development of security authorization packages, e.g., system security plans, contingency plans, etc., and conducting risk assessments, contingency plan tests, and other related security assessment and authorization.
  • Addressing cyber security risks through preparing, implementing, monitoring, and updating security authorizations products.
  • Initiating, directing and participating in the full lifecycle of cyber security assessments of IT systems and networks.
  • Evaluating and approving Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms) to correct findings of non-compliance.
  • Providing recommendation on implementation strategies and possible policy updates based on industry best practices and governing directives.

Qualifications

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for this position at the GS-13 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:

  1. Assisting with security authorization documentation and working independently to resolve cybersecurity issues; AND
  2. Conducting assessments or analysis of planned or installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs; AND
  3. Participating in the collection and analysis of technical and non-technical data associated with compliance regulations, and cybersecurity maintenance, initiatives, and/or policies.
