UNIT DESCRIPTION
TSSU provides time-sensitive world-class technical support to the FBI's CIRG, nationwide critical incidents, and special events.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a current, permanent FBI employee
  • Must be able to obtain an SCI clearance
  • Some travel may be required
  • Selectee will be required to complete form FD-887, Request for Access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
MAJOR DUTIES
GS 13/14:
  • Knowledge Required by the Position: Mastery knowledge of Project Management; Business Process Reengineering; Capital Planning and Investment Assessment; Contracting/Procurement; Cost Benefit Analysis; Financial Management; Planning and Evaluating; Quality Assurance; Requirements Analysis; and Risk Analysis in order to advise customers; ensure quality products and services are provided; manage projects; mitigate risks; submit budget requests and monitor costs; assess progress; etc.
  • The incumbent works under broad delegated authority with responsibility for independent planning, scheduling, coordinating, carrying out, and monitoring the effectiveness of IT projects. The supervisor usually accepts the incumbent's recommendations without change. Actions, decisions, and recommendations are reviewed primarily for results and in terms of impact on goals and objectives.
  • Prepares a post implementation evaluation report capturing lessons learned, evaluating project estimates versus actual cost, scheduling issues, and archiving project records.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and prioritizes risks associated with the IT project. Controls identified risks through the process of planning and monitoring. Risk identification and management is continuously assessed throughout the life of the project.
  • Overseeing the online information systems and microcomputer operations within the office. Provides technical support to all levels of personnel concerning the implementation and daily operations of the computer systems and individual microcomputer functions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with excellent ability to serve as a liaison with internal and external IT groups and others, such as, but not limited to: Servers, Networking, Engineering, Facilities, Security, and Customers.

Specialized Experience (SE)
GS-13: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
  • Knowledge of and skill in the use of automated project management software to produce efficiently and effectively manage IT projects and produce reports, charts, graphs, etc.
  • Applied knowledge/experience of IT documentation, procedures, decision logic tables, design methodologies, and programming languages to develop, test, implement, and report on system issues and progress.
GS-14: In addition to the above GS 13 SE, Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. SE is defined as follow:
  • Perform the full range of supervisory functions such as preparing performance appraisal reports, approving leave requests, recommending employees for promotion, etc., not to exceed 20% of time.
  • Experience working with wide area networks, local area networks, server and workstation platforms.
  • Experience applying and adapting innovative and new advanced IT principles, concepts, methods, standards and practices.

  • Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from LEGAT assignment. Employees returning from LEGAT assignments must advise the Staffing and Administrative Unit / International Operations Division of their application for this position.
  • Candidates receiving a transfer of physical location, whether at the expense of the FBI or not, will be required to complete a one-year commitment to the assignment, prior to moving to a new position at the FBI. The 12-month waiting period begins the day an employee reports for duty at the new location.
