Job Summary
The IT Spec -Field Supt Sr is responsible for the installation, migration, and performance of IT Infrastructure technology across business offices, plants, and operational environments. This includes project managing installations and resolving complex technical issues, applying technical knowledge to support field IT technology, and coordinating with various internal and external resources.
Essential Functions
• Applies technical expertise in IT installation/support within office and plant environments.
• Supports diverse IT technologies including Wireless, Networking, PCs, Time Systems, POS, Printers, Power Supplies, and cellular.
• Performs troubleshooting and analysis, collecting system information, diagnosing faults, performing root cause analysis, and developing checklists.
• Manages helpdesk, recording and resolving support and installation requests in the helpdesk system, documenting resolutions.
• Recommends procedures for problem prevention.
• Manages area IT installations and migrations, coordinating resources and maintaining relationships with operations.
• Installs IT technology such as Wireless, Network Wiring, LAN/WAN, Terminals, PCs, Time Systems, Printers, and Power Supplies.
• Ensures compliance with company IT standards during troubleshooting and installations.
• Coordinates on-site technical resources for support and installation.
• Oversees and manages IT installations/migrations.
• Builds relationships with plant, area, and regional operations.
• Provides status updates to the Regional Manager and business owners on installation/service status.
• Maintains accurate site inventory and cabling documentation.
• Manages costs, submits expense reports, and maintains the company vehicle.
• Transfers on-site technical knowledge for business continuity.
• Assesses training needs and proposes alternatives (with approval).
• Supports regional training program coordination (with approval).

Responsibilities
Education
• Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field
Experience
• Com TIA A+, Net+ and Security+ certification desired, but not required.
• Requires a minimum of five years experience in computer support, telephone installations, infrastructure design and installation, carrier services, or networking environment.
• Depending on assigned locations, may require experience with asphalt controls, readymix batch panels and aggregate plant automation systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Proficient in Wireless, Network Wiring, LAN/WAN Networking, Surveillance Systems, Terminals, PCs, Printers, Time Systems, Point of Sale interfaces (scale interfaces, pugmills, remote printing, card readers, kiosks), Power Supplies, and cellular devices.
• Ability to consult with users to diagnose hardware, software and network issues.
• Ability to use technical tools to retrieve system troubleshooting data to analyze and solve problems.
• Ability to work with users to test solutions and verify that system has been returned to functioning state.
• Organizational skills with the ability to plan, estimate, and coordinate IT projects, set priorities with daily support demands, and achieve quality results.
• Some familiarity with project tracking and working with teams of technical resources to meet project objectives on schedule and budget.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships with end-users, information services department, technology vendors and helpdesk team.
• Ability to consistently apply good judgment skills to maintain field IT technology while minimizing disruption to business operations.
• Advanced ability to analyze, identify, and diagnose technical faults, perform root cause analysis, and recommend preventative measures.
Other Requirements
• Maintains positive working relationships with plant, area and regional operations management and personnel.
• Good written and verbal communication skills to keep end-users, management, and vendors informed of the status of their requests, upcoming projects and requirements, and general technology support information.
• Must be self-directed and be able to handle own projects and work remotely with minimal supervision while keeping manager informed of status.
• Requires 40-70 percent travel with a combination of local and long distance travel.
• Requires the ability to be on-call to support production systems.
• Ability to climb ladders carry objects up to 40 pounds and operate man lift.
• Ability to work safely and follow safety guidelines and must have MSHA Certification .
• Requires valid drivers license and ability to travel locally and out of state and maintain a company assigned vehicle.
