Job Summary
The IT Software Engineer 5 - Technical Lead will provide technical leadership and delivery ownership for software engineering teams building and operating scalable, cloud-native applications on AWS. The role will drive architecture, solution design, engineering best practices, and delivery across Java/Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, CI/CD, observability, and cloud infrastructure. The Technical Lead will also support production operations, mentor engineers, influence cross-functional teams, and drive modernization, scalability, security, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical leadership and delivery ownership for software engineering teams.
• Establish technical direction, architecture standards, and engineering best practices.
• Design and develop Java/Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems.
• Drive AWS cloud adoption, modernization, scalability, performance, security, and reliability.
• Design and support cloud-native solutions using AWS services including ECS/Fargate, IAM, ALB, RDS, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.
• Lead implementation and optimization of OpenSearch/Elasticsearch platforms.
• Promote DevOps, CI/CD, automation, Infrastructure as Code, and AI-assisted development practices.
• Support production incidents, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical talent development.
• Partner with Product Owners, Architects, platform teams, and business stakeholders to align technology solutions with business objectives.
• Drive complex technical initiatives through successful delivery.
• Apply performance optimization, observability, and reliability practices across cloud-native applications.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree is required.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a technical lead or technical leadership capacity.
• Strong experience designing and delivering cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, with knowledge of current/latest versions preferred.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices.
• Strong experience developing REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including ECS/Fargate, IAM, ALB, RDS, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.
• Strong experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with Docker and containerized application development.
• Experience with CI/CD and GitHub.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud architecture.
• Experience with observability and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and API integration.
• Experience with performance optimization and cloud-native application reliability.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
