Position DescriptionPerforms advanced and complex information technology/information system (IT/IS) audits, investigations, and consulting engagements for Texas Tech University System and all component institutions. Duties include participation in all phases of engagements, including planning, fieldwork, review, communication, and reporting. Work is performed under general supervision with some latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Major/Essential Functions- Independently demonstrate an effort to understand information technology/information system (IT/IS) environment and applies knowledge in performing engagements. Understand IT/IS risks and objectives when approaching audit steps.
- Participate in the audit planning process, including risk assessment, establishment of audit objectives and scope, and development of the audit program.
- Independently conduct interviews and produce workpapers (including narrative documents, detailed analyses, tables, and other documents) that are clear, concise, and organized in a logical way and fully support conclusions and audit objectives.
- Assists in collecting and analyzing data and information for potential risk or opportunities for more effective and efficient automation of processes (i.e., data mining, data analysis, continuous monitoring.)
- Perform workpaper review in assigned areas to ensure documentation is clear, concise, fully supports conclusions and audit objectives, and is organized in a logical way.
- Exhibit the ability to write professional, concise, comprehensive, and clear reports to management to communicate the results of engagements.
- Proactively monitor time budgets and deadlines on assigned work and make consistent effort to meet budgets and deadlines.
- Demonstrate growth in understanding audit procedures, controls, standards, and best practices in IT/IS auditing. Exhibit the ability to communicate audit techniques to others.
- Proactively communicate to ensure the audit team stays abreast of audit issues and progress related to assigned areas, as well as provide continuous feedback and evaluate performance of team members.
- Demonstrate the ability to build effective client relationships and communicate with clients regarding the audit process and results in a professional, comprehensive, clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrate sound professional judgment, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making skills to recognize problems and determine solutions to address the issues.

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in information systems, business administration, or related area. Three years of professional level auditing or related experience. Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Pay StatementCompensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesIT Senior Auditors will occasionally supervise the work other team members on specific IT/IS audit engagements.
Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite. Excellent oral and written communication skills. The ability to carry a laptop, work extended hours, and travel. The integrity to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of internal auditing standards and practices, and knowledge of IT control frameworks and security standards (e.g., NIST, TAC 202, etc.). Familiarity with auditing information technology platforms, systems, networks, and related environments (e.g., operating systems, database security, network security, and application controls).
