IT Project Manager - Application Support & Azure Modernization

Location: Remote (Must work CST hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
Client: Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) / Minnesota Department of Administration
Interview Mode: Microsoft Teams

Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to support MMCAP and other Admin divisions. This role will focus on project management, enterprise application support, database optimization, and Azure modernization. The resource will manage IT initiatives, support day-to-day operations, and help assess and modernize data storage and application environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end IT projects including planning, execution, status reporting, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Provide day-to-day support for websites, applications, and databases.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise applications and systems.
  • Support Level 2 issue resolution for application, database, and website-related incidents.
  • Manage vendor contracts, subscriptions, and professional services.
  • Conduct assessments of storage environments, database systems, and legacy applications.
  • Analyze performance, scalability, dependencies, and modernization opportunities.
  • Gather business and technical requirements and translate them into technical recommendations.
  • Design and support Azure modernization strategies, including migration planning and future-state architecture.
  • Perform testing across applications, databases, and websites.
  • Support chatbot implementation and AI-driven document processing initiatives.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders.


Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in IT Project Management.
  • Experience in IT application support and operational management.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting or administering Microsoft Azure environments.
  • 2+ years of experience in:
    • Data storage optimization
    • Database analysis
    • Azure modernization
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server support and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ShareFile, Tableau, Drupal, Acquia, and OnContact.
  • Azure Administrator certification preferred.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Azure Databricks, PySpark, and Spark SQL.
  • Knowledge of Azure AI Search, RAG, LLMs, and chatbot implementation.
  • Experience with vector databases like Pinecone or Weaviate.
  • Familiarity with LangChain or Semantic Kernel.
