Job Description

The program manager products will have overarching responsibility across various products, connecting with global team where applicable. This role will conceive, define, test, deliver, monitor, refine and withdraw IT products in the market (or internally) to maximize business results. The products could be either internally developed or off-the-shelf applications. This role includes customer research and working with key business and IT stakeholders to develop and convey a product vision. It will also work with product teams to deliver the products and its enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with the key business and IT executive teams, vendor and partner relationships critical to product success.
  • Perform customer research to gain insight into the 'voice of the customer" and understand how customer will gain value.
  • Perform competitive analysis on the alternatives that target customers might use, so as to understand what capabilities and qualities the product must have to attract customers away from those alternatives - and keep them satisfied.
  • Facilitate and drive alignment among key stakeholders to lead them to converge on a product strategy, vision and roadmap by supplying analytics and customer insights.
  • Define a release strategy, from early prototypes, through minimum viable product (MVP), to the first and subsequent releases. This is subject to frequent change as with any agile delivery process.
  • Work with key stakeholders to make frequent and dynamic prioritization decisions based on the latest product analytics, product team metrics and customer feedback. Define, track and communicate key product performance indicators as required to inform this process, and track business results.
  • Grow awareness of the product and ensure that the value and associated costs are understood by the wider organization (business development, operations)
  • Understand inter-dependencies between products.
  • Act as the 'keeper (and communicator) of the vision' to translate the product strategy and vision developed with business stakeholders into what the product team must bear in mind every day to ensure they are building the right product.
  • Define the product roadmap based on business outcomes. Define which business capabilities the product should have, and what business outcomes those capabilities should achieve.
  • Collaborate closely with product delivery teams. Day-to-day coordination of backlog priorities and allocation of work to the team is the responsibility of the manager of each development team, however the product manager stays in regular contact to help the team make decisions informed by the product vision and budget, as well as to give regular feedback on sprint demos and other reviewable features.
  • Coordinate with other stakeholders such as business, data and IT architects to align product and platform architectures and capabilities according to agreed goals for non-functional requirements. Ensure that technical debt receives sufficient priority relative to functional requirements, in order to ensure success for the product throughout its entire life cycle, instead of just maximizing the functionality of the first release.
  • Work within the product budget by balancing resources research, competitive analysis, vision development, and prototyping, but primarily to deliver and maintain the product.
  • Direct efforts to develop proposals, progress reports, BCAs, and other documents and presentations relevant for the product.
  • Direct the completion of all product components to meet appropriate financial standards, ensure customer and business partner satisfaction, timely completion.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop and refine business and pricing models for the product.
  • Track usage of the product and report to key stakeholders.
  • Develop customer demo materials.
  • Review customer requirements and evaluate whether the onboarding is standard or additional work and customization are required.
  • Balance divisional goals with long-term market trends and opportunities, and direct, establish and maintain overall regional policies and strategies for product management.
  • Develop product management discipline, including processes, templates, best practices.
