Project Scope
We are seeking an IT Program Manager to support a healthcare IT PMO in planning, managing, and coordinating complex, interrelated technology initiatives across multiple Scrum teams. This role will operate within a scaled Agile framework, driving program-level delivery across strategic organizational projects that require cross-team coordination and alignment.
Position Summary
The IT Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing, launching, and executing large-scale IT initiatives in a complex iterative environment. This individual will blend classic project management discipline with Agile principles - developing detailed program plans, working with Scrum teams to break work into consumable user stories, and ensuring continuous delivery of value to patients and staff. The ideal candidate brings 7-10 years of program management experience in a healthcare IT environment, strong coaching and facilitation skills, and the ability to manage complex dependencies across multiple teams and stakeholders simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and coordinate interrelated program workstreams across multiple Scrum teams chartered around business verticals.
- Develop detailed project plans including timelines, milestones, deliverables, and go/no-go decision points.
- Work with Scrum teams to allocate and commit work in support of program timelines, ensuring all tasks are accounted for.
- Serve as the IT point of contact and represent IT in planning sessions with business leadership.
- Manage program scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, and dependencies using appropriate change control policies.
- Participate in Scaled Agile ceremonies including quarterly planning, PO Sync, and Scrum of Scrums.
- Establish effective cross-team collaboration and communication across all program workstreams.
- Identify metrics and KPIs to monitor and manage program performance.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive program documentation using collaborative IT resources.
- Produce status reports and communications for managers and stakeholders.
- Coordinate vendor and external contractor work as needed.
- Promote continuous improvement of delivery processes and support the refinement of Program Management governance.
Qualifications
- 7-10 years of traditional Waterfall IT project management experience including 5+ years managing enterprise projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex programs in a healthcare IT environment.
- Strong coaching skills and ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing program budgets, risks, and dependencies across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Ability to travel up to 80% as required.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; 10-15 years of relevant program management experience accepted in lieu of degree.
- Certified Scrum Master (Scrum Alliance), Agile Project Management (IC Agile), or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI).
- Healthcare IT experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting Scaled Agile frameworks across large health system environments.
- Strong executive communication skills across IT and business leadership audiences.
