Full Job Description
Job Summary:

The IT Portfolio Partner will serve as a strategic liaison between Information Management & Technology (IMT) and assigned operational areas across SUNY Upstate Medical University. This role is central to IMT's enterprise intake and prioritization model, owning the coordination of project requests within defined portfolios from initial intake and triage through prioritization with operational stakeholders. The IT Portfolio Partner ensures that IMT resources are aligned to the work that generates greatest value for the organization, that requestors have a consistent point of contact, and that operational and executive leaders are well-equipped to make informed prioritization decisions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serving as the primary owner for one or more assigned portfolios, reviewing incoming IMT project requests and curating portfolio queues, building and sustaining trust and collaborative partnerships with operational and executive stakeholders, translating business needs into technical requirements, facilitating recurring prioritization meetings with operational and executive owners, proactively communicating project statuses and prioritization decisions in a timely manner, identifying opportunities for process improvement and contributing to the ongoing optimization of the portfolio management framework.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, healthcare administration, public health, business analytics, organizational communication, information systems, or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience in project, program, and/or portfolio management, continuous process improvement, and/or coordination of cross-functional teams or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in business administration, public administration, healthcare administration, public health, business analytics, organizational communication, information systems, or a related field and at least three years of relevant experience with a strong foundation in stakeholder relationship management and cross-functional coordination. IT project or portfolio management experience in a healthcare and/or higher education setting preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience using project or portfolio management tools, demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excel at effective meeting facilitation among operational and executive leadership.
