Full Job Description
IT Manager - Stoa Group

Hammond, LA | In-Office, 5 Days/Week | Approximately 20-25% Travel

Stoa Group is hiring an IT Manager to own and manage how IT operates across our company. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role - not a people-management position - with a strong focus on bringing consistency, structure, and sound judgment to IT as we continue to grow.

You'll manage day-to-day IT needs while developing real autonomy as you align with how we think about priorities, spend, and what matters most to the business - partnering closely with our MSP for execution. This role works well in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift and adaptability matters

This role reports to our People Operations team and works closely with HR on onboarding, offboarding, and employee technology needs.

This is an in-office role based in Hammond, LA (5 days per week), with travel to properties and job sites across our Gulf Coast and Southeast portfolio - typically 20-25% of the role, including planned construction project visits and occasional as-needed trips.

What You'll Own
  • Day-to-day IT management across multiple sites (in-person and remote)
  • Evaluating IT issues, projects, and priorities, and recommending or executing the right course of action - with growing autonomy as you build context with our environment
  • IT coordination for our active construction projects - managing timelines and travel to job sites for network and connectivity setup, then again when leasing offices turn over from construction to operations
  • Supporting onboarding and offboarding of employees, including device setup, system access, and coordination with HR on access changes as employees change roles or locations
  • Managing the relationship with our MSP - directing their work, holding them accountable, and knowing when to step in directly versus delegate
  • Troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues beyond basic Tier 1 support
  • Installation and setup of equipment at properties and job sites (devices, networking, Starlink, etc.)
  • Site readiness and IT setup, coordinating with construction and operations teams to ensure locations are fully operational
  • Asset and inventory control - tracking equipment across all locations, auditing accuracy, and planning for replacement and lifecycle needs
  • IT inventory, access management, and system organization, including directory accuracy across our environment
  • Documentation of systems, processes, and access points
  • Building and improving IT structure - processes, standards, preventative maintenance
  • Identifying gaps and flagging solutions before issues arise
  • Communicating budget, timeline, and business considerations as part of IT recommendations
  • Supporting system security and access controls in coordination with our MSP

What This Role Is - and Isn't

This is an individual-contributor role. You will not have direct reports, though you may help guide future IT hires as the team grows. Independence here isn't about tenure - it's about alignment. Once you understand how we think about cost, priorities, and what matters most to the business, you'll have real latitude to make decisions and run with them. This role is expected to use good judgment on day-to-day needs, communicate proactively on anything outside the norm, and build the kind of trust that comes from consistently getting it right.

What We're Looking For
  • Experience being the sole or primary IT resource for an organization or location
  • Comfort managing and traveling to multiple locations, including travel to active construction sites and properties across our portfolio
  • Sound judgment and the ability to evaluate IT issues and recommend a course of action
  • Experience working alongside an MSP or external IT vendor - knows how to direct the relationship, not just receive support from it
  • Broad technical knowledge that goes beyond Tier 1 support - comfortable with infrastructure, networking fundamentals, and systems administration
  • Comfortable managing project timelines and coordinating with construction and operations teams on site readiness
  • Business awareness - able to weigh budget, time, and organizational priorities and communicate that clearly
  • Strong, clear, professional communication with technical and non-technical people alike
  • A practical, solutions-oriented mindset with pride in doing things right the first time
  • Dependable and responsive, with a habit of following through and closing out work

Technical Experience
  • Experience supporting Windows and Mac environments
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint and Teams (site setup, permissions, file organization, and basic governance)
  • Working knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, wireless, VPN) with ability to troubleshoot connectivity across multiple locations
  • Experience with network infrastructure and management platforms (Ubiquiti/UniFi or similar)
  • Device management, system deployment, and troubleshooting across distributed teams
  • Experience working with vendors and external IT partners (MSP environments preferred)

Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in an IT role supporting multi-site environments, with a demonstrated track record as the sole or primary IT decision-maker for an organization or location - including experience planning and executing IT projects, not simply executing tickets or following direction from a larger IT team
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, with willingness to travel to properties and job sites as needed
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
