Applied Materials is seeking an experienced Functional Analyst to support business-critical Semiconductor Lab IT Operations systems, applications, and digital solutions used across global engineering, research, development, and manufacturing labs. This role will partner with business stakeholders, lab users, engineering teams, and IT organizations to support application enhancements, operational processes, user onboarding, equipment connectivity, mobility solutions, and security initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security, and effectiveness of lab IT services that enable engineers, researchers, and technicians to perform their work efficiently. This position requires strong functional analysis, stakeholder management, and operational support skills while driving continuous improvement across global semiconductor lab environments.

Key Responsibilities

Lab Applications & Digital Solutions
  • Support business-critical applications and digital solutions used across Semiconductor Lab Operations.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from lab and engineering stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and process documentation.
  • Partner with development teams, system administrators, and vendors to implement system enhancements.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), deployments, and post-implementation support activities.
  • Support incident management, problem resolution, and service request fulfillment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve operational efficiency, user experience, and system reliability.

Lab IT Operations Support
  • Support day-to-day operations of lab IT systems, applications, and business processes.
  • Coordinate onboarding of new labs, users, applications, and operational workflows.
  • Support asset tracking, operational workflows, resource scheduling, and other lab operational solutions.
  • Work closely with lab personnel, engineers, and support teams to identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Analyze support trends and recommend improvements to enhance service quality and operational performance.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining operational procedures, knowledge articles, and support documentation.

Mobility & Endpoint Solutions
  • Provide functional support for tablet, mobile device, barcode scanning, and mobility solutions used within Semiconductor Labs.
  • Coordinate onboarding, configuration, and lifecycle management activities for lab mobile devices and peripherals.
  • Support printer, scanner, barcode reader, and other connected device deployments.
  • Partner with infrastructure and endpoint teams to ensure devices are compliant, secure, and operational.
  • Support implementation and adoption of new technologies that improve lab productivity and efficiency.

Equipment Connectivity & Integration Support
  • Support IT systems and workflows that enable connectivity between lab equipment and enterprise applications.
  • Coordinate onboarding of new equipment, devices, and associated digital workflows.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment connectivity and data flow issues.
  • Work with engineering, infrastructure, and application teams to facilitate issue resolution.
  • Support testing and validation of system integrations and automation-related enhancements.
  • Maintain documentation of interfaces, integrations, and operational support procedures.

Lab Security & Access Management
  • Support lab application security processes, user provisioning, and role-based access controls.
  • Coordinate user access requests, periodic access reviews, and account management activities.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure compliance with corporate security policies.
  • Assist with audit readiness, compliance reviews, and security documentation activities.
  • Support implementation of security controls across applications, mobile devices, and connected lab systems.
  • Coordinate remediation activities associated with security findings, vulnerabilities, and compliance requirements.
  • Promote security awareness and best practices across the lab community.

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership
  • Serve as a liaison between lab users, business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and process reviews.
  • Communicate system changes, enhancement roadmaps, and operational updates to stakeholders.
  • Develop training materials, user guides, and knowledge management content.
  • Support change management activities and end-user adoption initiatives.

Global Operational Support
  • Support users across multiple regions, sites, and time zones.
  • Participate in operational reviews, incident triage, and escalation management processes.
  • Monitor application and service performance trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support critical business operations and planned maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with global support teams to ensure consistent service delivery and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Functional Analyst, Business Analyst, Application Analyst, or IT Operations Analyst.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications and operational systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience gathering, documenting, and translating business requirements.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
  • Ability to balance operational support responsibilities with project and enhancement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Semiconductor Labs, engineering labs, R&D environments, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience supporting laboratory applications, workflow management systems, or operational platforms.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow, Jira, Agile methodologies, and ITIL-based support processes.
  • Experience with user access management, security controls, and compliance processes.
  • Familiarity with mobile devices, barcode technologies, printers, scanners, and peripheral device support.
  • Experience supporting equipment connectivity, system integrations, and data collection solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based application platforms, enterprise integrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience supporting global business operations and multi-site environments.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
