Full Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced IT Networking Engineer to support mission-critical network infrastructure at the DOE Pantex Plant in Amarillo, TX. This role is responsible for maintaining and modernizing enterprise network environments, supporting network operations, performance optimization, security compliance, and infrastructure lifecycle management. The ideal candidate has strong Cisco networking expertise, experience supporting secure government environments, and a passion for maintaining highly available enterprise systems.

Work Environment:

Full-time, 100% on-site role in Amarillo, TX supporting mission-critical network operations and infrastructure modernization efforts at the DOE Pantex Plant. Position may require participation in change windows, maintenance activities, and support of highly secure enterprise environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and support enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless networks, and data center environments.
  • Troubleshoot network incidents and restore services in accordance with established SLAs.
  • Develop lifecycle management plans including upgrades, patching, maintenance windows, and rollback strategies.
  • Monitor network health and performance while supporting NOC/SOC integration and telemetry reporting.
  • Provide recommendations for network optimization, capacity planning, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Administer Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and network access control solutions.
  • Manage network access devices, authentication policies, and identity groups.
  • Support VoIP administration, including adds, moves, changes, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage wireless network infrastructure and access point deployments.
  • Administer load balancers, DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (IPAM) systems.
  • Maintain network diagrams, inventories, engineering documentation, and change records.
  • Support ServiceNow change management processes, RFC submissions, and CAB activities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of networking experience; equivalent education and experience combinations may be considered.
  • Strong experience with Cisco enterprise routing and switching technologies .
  • Experience supporting enterprise network operations, troubleshooting, and infrastructure management.
  • Knowledge of network security, access control, and operational best practices.
  • Ability to work within highly regulated and secure environments.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Clearance Requirement:
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or DOE Q Clearance required, or previous eligibility with the ability to reinstate.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance .

Preferred:
  • Experience with Cisco ISE and Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center) .
  • Experience with Tenable , Splunk , and enterprise monitoring solutions.
  • Experience managing DNS, DHCP, IPAM , and load balancing technologies.
  • Experience supporting DOE, DoD, or other federal secure environments.


Compensation:
  • Pay range: $130,000 - $170,000 (Based on years of relevant experience)
