Full Job Description
IT Network Engineer Location: Remote Base Salary Rate: $143,399.00 to $168,705.00 Job type: Full-time About this role The IT Network Engineer designs, configures, implements, and supports Kidde Global Solutions' (KGS) global network, connectivity, voice, and remote-access services. Working hands-on across the enterprise WAN and LAN, the role delivers resilient, reliable, secure, and performant connectivity and leads predictable solutions for escalated second- and third-level network incidents. Reporting to the IT Network & Connectivity Manager and working closely with global IT teams, technology vendors, NetSecOps, and end users, the Network Engineer applies an engineering mindset-driving continuous improvement through automation, self-service, and a "fix for good" approach-while thriving amid changing priorities, deadlines, and a highly variable workload. Key Responsibilities Network Engineering & Operations - Configure, deploy, and maintain routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, and firewall infrastructure across the enterprise WAN and LAN to deliver resilient, reliable, secure, and performant connectivity. - Configure and tune core network services-VLANs, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), spanning tree, QoS, DNS, DHCP, and IP address management-to optimize performance and availability. - Plan, deploy, and troubleshoot wireless (WIFI) networks, including site surveys, controller and access-point configuration, and RF optimization. - Configure and manage VPN, remote-access, and network access control (NAC) services for secure connectivity. - Monitor network health using network monitoring and management systems (NMS); proactively detect, diagnose, and resolve faults, including packet capture and protocol analysis. - Assist in modernizing legacy network and voice infrastructure using SD-WAN, UCaaS, VoIP, and centralized network management. - Perform technical analysis, performance tuning, capacity monitoring, and load testing of network and connectivity solutions; produce network design documentation, work instructions, test cases, and root cause analysis reports. Connectivity & Voice - Deploy and support voice and remote-access services, including UCaaS and VoIP platforms. - Contribute to simplifying the network and voice landscape and help reduce the number of suppliers and platforms in use. - Improve the reliability of connectivity and voice services by identifying recurring pain points and delivering systemic fixes through problem management, automation, and optimized processes. Network Security Operations (NetSecOps) - Support NetSecOps and coordinate with the Managed Security Services Provider to monitor and respond to security events across the network and its security systems (e.g., NGFW, IPS/IDS, NAC, VPN, WAF, web/email filtering, network segmentation, and SIEM). - Assist with regular audit management and penetration-testing initiatives, including remediation of audit findings and network vulnerabilities. - Support the development and execution of incident response and disaster recovery plans for network and cyber security events. Service & Support - Provide second- and third-level support for escalated network, connectivity, and voice incidents and service requests, resolving them within published SLA/OLA response times. - Apply ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management practices, recording and tracking all actions in the ITSM tool through final resolution. - Engage in Problem Management by tracking and analyzing recurring network problems and providing proactive remediation communications to the broader KGS user community. - Coordinate with technology vendors and internal IT teams to deploy, install, integrate, upgrade, or decommission network hardware and software. - Support IT/OT integration, coordinating with Manufacturing Engineering, Process Control, and Operational Technology functions for network and cyber security needs. Automation & Continuous Improvement - Build and support network automation and self-service solutions to streamline configuration, provisioning, and change. - Evaluate and help adopt emerging network technologies-software-defined and intent-based networking, high-speed connectivity, UCaaS, and network automation. - Apply ITIL and continuous-improvement methodologies to network processes, service procedures, platforms, and user experiences; challenge the status quo and drive improvement. - Subscribe to and promote IT policies, health & safety standards, and KGS values. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree - 4+ years of hands-on experience engineering and supporting enterprise networks, connectivity, and voice services, ideally in a global or multi-site environment. Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience. - Strong hands-on experience with Cisco/Meraki routing and switching, firewalls, WIFI planning and troubleshooting, and network and fiber cabling. - Strong working knowledge of networking protocols and services-TCP/IP, routing (BGP/OSPF), switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPN, NAC, and QoS. - Experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and packet/protocol analysis. - Working knowledge of ITIL practices, with hands-on Change and Problem Management experience. - Ability to travel up to 20%. - Flexible schedule to accommodate occasional on-call and after-hours needs. - Hands-on experience with any part of the KGS network technology stack-e.g., Cisco and Cisco Meraki (routing, switching, wireless), SD-WAN, next-generation firewalls, VPN, and network access control (NAC). - Zscaler background (Zscaler Internet Access / Private Access-Zero Trust / SSE) is a strong plus. - Network certifications such as CCNA or CCNP (Enterprise / Routing & Switching), or Cisco Meraki. - Advanced routing, switching, or wireless certifications (e.g., CCNP Enterprise, CWNA). - Network security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or CCNP Security). - Hands-on experience with SD-WAN, UCaaS, or VoIP platforms. - Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible). - ITIL Foundation certification. - Experience with NetSecOps tooling (NGFW, IPS/IDS, NAC, VPN). - IT/OT integration or Operational Technology network exposure. - Experience working with technology vendors and managed service providers. - Experience producing technical and network design documentation. - Strong customer focus and professional standards. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to establish root cause and corrective actions. - Keen attention to detail; well organized. - Able to relay technical concepts in a clear, non-technical manner. - Highly self-motivated; actively seeks development opportunities. - Good time management; able to multitask, prioritize, and work to deadlines under pressure. - Works calmly under pressure while managing competing priorities. - Collaborates as part of a broad-based global team across a matrix organization. - Curiosity to learn more about customers, the business, and emerging technology. - Challenges the status quo and drives continuous improvement. Compensation and Benefits Individuals may be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on both individual and company's performance. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the individual's knowledge, skills, and experience as it relates to the job requirements. Kidde Global Solutions is committed to providing a competitive benefits package to our employees including medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, retirement plan, paid time off (vacation, sick, company holidays), 401(k) with employer match, EAP assistance, and more.
