Full Job Description
TerraPower is seeking to hire highly motivated and forward-thinking professionals who are interested in focusing on advanced nuclear reactor research and development and influencing change within the nuclear power landscape and bringing forward the critical production of medical isotopes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly manage and support a team of data engineers, DBAs and BI developers, including workload balancing, career development, and performance conversations
  • Act as the first point of escalation for technical blockers, cross-team dependencies, and prioritization conflicts
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to translate data and reporting needs into team priorities
  • Enable and guide the team to build and mature key data management functions such as data integration, database management, data lifecycle management, data quality management, and master data management.
  • Evolve data pipeline architecture standards, data-stack and BI tooling strategy, and data quality practices in partnership with Data Architect and senior ICs
  • Own hiring, onboarding, and team structure decisions for your group
  • Shield the team from noise and churn so they can do focused, high-quality work
  • Represent the data management function in leadership discussions, bringing forward team input rather than dictating from the top down

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience in data engineering roles
  • 5+ years in data engineering/BI, including a minimum of 2+ years leading technical teams, ideally including both data engineers and BI/analytics developers
  • A track record of being self-directed - you don't need a playbook handed to you, you build one
  • Strong instincts for developing people, not just projects
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy and reporting up on outcomes rather than activity
  • Curious by nature, and genuinely energized by growing others' curiosity too

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with Delta Lake, Apache Spark, or similar open-source data processing frameworks within a cloud environment. Familiarity with Azure Data Lake Storage, various database platforms (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, Postgres, Cosmos), Fabric, Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, and Logic Apps
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or related Data Platform Certification
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries (energy, financial services, healthcare, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and their architectural implications
  • Understanding of compliance requirements and audit readiness in highly regulated industries.

Salary Range: $153,861 - $205,149

*Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual's qualifications experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
