Job Description

HPC-Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, is seeking a Supervisor - Well Abandonment to lead field operations supporting oil and gas well abandonment projects. This position is responsible for overseeing daily activities including excavation, wellhead severing (cut & cap), site restoration, and coordination of crews and equipment across multiple job sites.

The Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This individual serves as the primary point of contact in the field, providing leadership, direction, and technical guidance to crews while maintaining strong customer relationships.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced field leaders or transitioning military personnel with strong leadership and operational experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise well abandonment field crews across multiple job locations
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with HPC safety standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CalGEM, BLM as applicable)
  • Oversee excavation, line locating verification, wellhead severing (cut & cap), and site restoration activities
  • Coordinate personnel, equipment, and materials to meet project schedules and production targets
  • Conduct and document pre-job planning, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and daily safety meetings
  • Verify utility clearances (USA Dig Alert) and ensure proper ground disturbance procedures are followed
  • Monitor job progress, productivity, and quality; adjust resources as needed
  • Serve as field point of contact for customers, ensuring clear communication and issue resolution
  • Complete and submit daily reports, field documentation, and project updates
  • Ensure proper equipment use, inspections, and routine maintenance
  • Coach, mentor, and develop field personnel; reinforce safe work behaviors and accountability
  • Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and physically demanding conditions
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours, including weekends as needed
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence
  • 5+ years of experience in oilfield services, well abandonment, construction, or related field operations
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Strong understanding of excavation, heavy equipment operations, and oilfield site work
  • Knowledge of well abandonment processes (cut & cap, wellhead removal, site restoration) preferred
  • Familiarity with line locating, ground disturbance, and utility clearance processes
  • Ability to read and interpret job scopes, maps, and field drawings
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license required
