GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

The Museum is seeking an Investment Officer to join their 7-person Investments Office. The Investments Office is responsible for managing the Museum's endowment, which comprises approximately $5B in assets across public and private investments. As the Investment Officer, you will work directly with senior investment professionals in the oversight of the portfolio. While some team members lean more towards either private or public investment oversight, the team broadly considers themselves generalists and operate across asset classes. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Work directly with senior investment professionals to identify and evaluate investment opportunities across asset classes
• Contribute to the generation, review and evaluation of investment ideas, trends, and strategies across all asset classes.
• Meet with external investment managers to understand their investment strategies, portfolio and risk management approaches, research processes, track records, organizational structure, and alignment. Engage in an ongoing dialogue with these managers to engender strong relationships with them and benefit from their thinking.
• Review and monitor existing investment managers to evaluate results, ensure objectives are being met, and develop updated views on their activities
• Exercise both qualitative and quantitative skills in the assessment of investment opportunities
• Assist with broader portfolio management initiatives, including asset allocation, risk management, and portfolio construction
• Cultivate strong relationships across the investment community
• Stay informed on regulatory and compliance changes within the investment field
• Prepare written materials and present to the Museum's Trustee Investment Committee
• Conduct special research projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Outstanding academic credentials with an undergraduate degree required, MBA, CFA, or equivalent preferred
• 7-10 years of relevant work experience
• Strong understanding of capital markets and portfolio theory
• Superior written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent quantitative capabilities and technological fluency
• Intellectual curiosity, strong critical reasoning skills, attention to detail, ability to juggle multiple tasks and respond to changing priorities, and meet deadlines
• Ability to function well individually and as a member of a team

Location Requirements

At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. "Commuting distance" means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the "Tri-state and PA" areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
