Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) with six years of full-time peace officer experience, or a combination of education and experience with three years investigative law enforcement work and a related bachelor's degree.
  • Preference for candidates with a formal education in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field.
  • Must have and maintain Utah POST Certification as a Category 2 Law Enforcement Officer.
  • Successful completion of a Washington County Attorney’s Office background investigation is required.
  • Valid Utah driver’s license with required vehicle liability insurance is necessary for job-related travel.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex civil case investigations and prepare cases for court and trial presentations.
  • Work under the guidance of the Investigations Bureau Chief in executing investigative tasks.
  • Investigate incidents involving law enforcement officers and search for conflict cases at the direction of the County Attorney.
  • Participate actively in the Washington County Critical Incident Task Force (CITF).
  • Engage as a member of the County Child Abduction Response Team (CART) as required.

JOB OPENING FOR A

INVESTIGATOR

FOR THE

Washington County Attorney's Office

FULL TIME WITH BENEFITS / $44.10 per Hour

Under the general guidance and direction of the Investigations Bureau Chief, performs the most complex and civil case investigation and preparation prior to court and trial presentations. Conducts Investigations Bureau functions in furtherance of the performance of the Washington County Attorney.

Participates in the Washington County Critical Incident Task Force (CITF) and County Child Abduction Response Team (CART). Investigates incidents involving law enforcement officers, conflict cases at the request of other agencies, or as directed by the County Attorney.

Education and Experience:
  • High school graduation or equivalent

And
  • Six (6) years of full-time peace officer experience in law enforcement.

Or
  • An acceptable combination of education and experience. Preference given for three (3) years full-time investigative law enforcement experience and graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and related experience may be substituted for a degree.

Special Requirements:

-Must pass a Washington County Attorney's Office background investigation.

-Must have and maintain Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training Certification as (LEO) Category 2 through Utah POST.

-Employees driving a personal or a county vehicle for job related travel must possess a valid Utah driver license, maintain the minimum vehicle liability insurance as specified in the Utah Code, and must operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.

-Must be willing to work 24 hours on-call.
