Summary

Duties

Help

  • You will serve as Lead/Senior Investigator on the NIA Inspector General (IG) Staff, with primary responsibility for managing the NIA and ONI Hotline Programs.
  • You will plan, conduct, and coordinate investigations or inquiries into allegations of misconduct, fraud, waste, abuse, or mismanagement by personnel assigned to NIA and subordinate Echelon III/IV commands.
  • You will analyze complaint and allegation(s) to identify the issues and determine relevant guidance and evidence.
  • You will communicate effectively orally and in writing and present facts and ideas to management in a succinct and organized manner to influence or convince senior leadership to take appropriate action.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final top secret/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a two-year DCIPS trial period.
  • All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.


Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Serve as a Lead or Senior Investigator responsible for independently planning, organizing, and executing comprehensive administrative inquiries or investigations into severe allegations of misconduct.
  • Systematically analyze intricate complaints and allegations to identify core issues, cross-referencing findings against applicable statutory and regulatory guidance, and evaluating the relevance and weight of collected evidence to reach legally and administratively sound conclusions.
  • Prepare meticulously detailed reports and executive summaries and deliver oral briefings to senior executives or commanders.

You must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone; substitution of education for experience is not permitted at this grade level.
