We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented
Inventory & Sales Operations Manager to drive operational excellence across our sales function in a fast-paced publishing environment. This role plays a critical part in executing sales strategy by ensuring seamless coordination across forecasting, inventory management, reporting, and order fulfillment.
You will partner closely with sales, distribution, publishers, and internal teams to ensure the smooth flow of title releases, accurate sales analytics, and consistent operational support. Key ResponsibilitiesSales Operations & Order Management- Oversee day-to-day sales operations, including title releases, order processing, and distribution coordination
- Manage and resolve complex order issues such as pricing discrepancies, discounting, and system overrides
- Monitor inventory levels against open orders and allocate stock for high-demand titles
- Partner with logistics and distribution teams to prioritize shipments and ensure timely fulfillment
- Review and optimize reserved stock levels to maximize product availability
Inventory & Title Lifecycle Management- Track upcoming title releases and align inventory availability with publication schedules
- Identify risks such as inventory shortages or print delays and recommend mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with inventory teams to trigger reprints based on demand and sales performance
- Maintain accurate master product lists and planograms with timely updates
Forecasting & Planning- Lead monthly and quarterly forecasting across U.S. and U.K. markets
- Analyze historical performance and comparable titles to inform forecasts
- Build and manage forecast models, including print grids and reforecast scenarios
- Partner with sales teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of submissions
- Deliver insights on forecast variances and emerging market trends
Reporting & Data Analysis- Develop and deliver key reporting, including:
- Weekly/monthly budget reports
- Daily invoicing and open order tracking
- Account and channel performance analysis
- Forecast vs. actual sales tracking
- Generate insights using multiple data sources (internal systems, Circana, customer portals, etc.)
- Produce ad hoc analyses to support sales leadership and strategic decisions
- Monitor key retail accounts, analyzing trends, cancellations, and performance metrics
Account & Systems Management- Manage account setup, coding, and maintenance across systems and sales channels
- Ensure accurate alignment of sales reps, accounts, and customer hierarchies
- Maintain account lists and resolve discrepancies in reporting structures
- Serve as a key liaison for system updates, reporting templates, and sales tools
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in sales operations, publishing, or a related analytical role
- Strong analytical and data management skills with experience in forecasting and reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with reporting tools and sales systems preferred
- Familiarity with publishing distribution, inventory management, and title lifecycle processes is a plus
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
