JOB SUMMARYThis position controls and monitors freight and inventory levels using the most cost-effective methods.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide for monitoring and inspection of produce at the dock to ensure quality standards are met and quantity is correct.
- Responsible for all receiving and inventory adjustments to assure correctness and entry into the mainframe.
- Accountable for daily physical cycle counts on frozen, cooler, and dry products.
- Liable for the slotting and assigning of all new items in the warehouse, assuring the correctness of the information in the mainframe and that warehouse slots are labeled correctly.
- Keep warehouse manager informed, as needed, of potential problems and changes.
- Responsible for notifying customer service of potential outs.
- Complete inventory and warehouse report daily.
- Manage and direct all physical inventories as called for under SYGMA guidelines and directives.
- Works closely with all departments regarding merchandise received, new items, all inventories, to assure a continuous flow of information.
- Adhere to cycle count program.
- Adhere to hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) and material safety data sheet (MSDS) guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation- High school diploma/GED.
- Prefer 4-year college degree in a related discipline.
Experience- 3 years of inventory control experience and/or warehouse experience in food distribution.
- 1-year experience on IBM AS400.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations- Warehouse equipment and possibly forklift.
Physical Demand- Work is light to medium in nature with frequent walking to perform assigned tasks.
- You must be able to communicate clearly with shippers and employees.
- Physical inventories involve periods of prolonged standing.
Mental/Visual Demand- You must be able to read text that is close and at a distance with or without correction.
- In addition, must be able to perform a manual task, hear, sit, reach, lift, bend, and interact with others.
Working Condition- Activities occur both inside (protected from weather conditions but not temperature changes) and outside.
- An employee is subjected to extreme cold while supervising in the freezer.
- Hazardous conditions may exist, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current and working in high places.
Equipment Operated- A calculator, copier, fax, PC, Microsoft Office applications, telephone and mainframe printer are typical equipment used in this position.
- You may also be required to operate a pallet jack and forklift.
