The Intraday Liquidity Management function, within Corporate Treasury, oversees liquidity risk arising from the Bank’s global payment and settlement activities. The team strengthens intraday liquidity capabilities, optimizes liquidity usage, and operates within the first line of defense to identify, monitor, and manage intraday liquidity risk. The role requires effective collaboration and communication with lines of business and other internal and external partners across global time zones.

As a member of the Intraday Liquidity team, you will support the execution and continued development of the Bank’s enterprise-wide intraday liquidity framework, including related funding and collateral considerations. You will perform recurring monitoring, forecasting, reporting, data analysis, and analytical support used to identify and manage liquidity risks arising from business activity.

The role provides exposure across intraday liquidity monitoring, forecasting, stress testing, risk analytics, reporting, controls, and business engagement. You will work closely with more experienced team members and stakeholders across Treasury, Finance, Operations, Risk, and Technology to investigate exceptions, understand risk drivers, and support the continued development of the Bank’s intraday liquidity capabilities.

  • Performs daily and intraday monitoring of liquidity positions, payment and settlement activity, capacity utilization, thresholds, and early-warning indicators.
  • Produces recurring intraday liquidity reports, analytical outputs, dashboards, and supporting management information.
  • Prepares forecast inputs and supports forecast production, forecast-versus-actual matching, variance tracking, exception review, and recurring driver analysis.
  • Compiles, reviews, and analyzes data from multiple sources to support monitoring, forecasting, reporting, and risk analysis.
  • Supports stress testing, threshold and EWI analysis, buffer analysis, behavioral analysis, and other methodology activities.
  • Supports investigation of unusual payment flows, position movements, data-quality issues, and other exceptions, escalating material items as appropriate.
  • Analyzes business activity, products, payment flows, and operational changes to help assess their impact on intraday liquidity.
  • Supports line-of-business engagement by preparing analysis, gathering inputs, tracking follow-up items, and helping explain liquidity and forecast drivers.
  • Supports regulatory reporting, committee materials, control evidence, issue tracking, and responses to audit and second-line requests.
  • Supports the implementation and ongoing enhancement of intraday liquidity processes, reporting capabilities, and analytical tools.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve data quality, reporting, controls, and recurring processes through approved automation, analytics, and AI tools.

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of or experience in treasury, liquidity, payments, financial markets, finance, operations, data analytics, or related risk-management disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with large data sets and identify trends, exceptions, and drivers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage recurring deliverables while responding to time-sensitive issues.
  • Experience with financial analysis, forecasting, reporting, data analytics, or treasury processes is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of automation and AI tools and their practical application.

Salary:

$65,000.00 - $140,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
