Responsibilities

JOB TITLE: Interventional Technologist

STATUS: Full Time
LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital (RGH) - 1425 Portland Avenue Rochester, NY 14621
DEPARTMENT: Radiology 
SCHEDULE: Days, M-F, 8hrs, 930am-530pm, on call requirement, weekends as needed for on call

SUMMARY

As an Interventional Technologist, your attention to detail and assistance with radiology procedures ensures diagnostic quality and the maximum comfort and safety of patients undergoing procedures. Performs and assists radiologists in performing radiographic procedures, obtaining images of good diagnostic quality while providing maximum comfort and safety to patients undergoing these procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for radiography of patients in all assigned areas, including angiography, interventional and digital subtraction angiography.

  • Maintains accountability for timely and proper service to patients during unsupervised shifts.

  • Maintains accountability for patient throughout the angiographic area.

  • Provides on-call coverage for Interventional Section of Radiology.

  • Maintains accountability for proper documentation of exams and related procedures utilizing the RIS/PACS and in patient charts as necessary.

  • Cleans, restocks and prepares rooms on a daily basis.

  • Attends hospital and departmental meetings and in-service training.

  • Provides excellent customer service.

  • Transport medications with patients to procedure and give medications to Physicians.

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate from accredited school of radiological technology or equivalent.

  • NYS license in Radiologic Technology OR must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of employment.

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT-R) or obtain certification within three months of employment.


New Graduates:

  • Official transcript from accredited school or letter emailed directly from the school’s registrar’s office confirming program completion will be accepted upon graduation.

  • Primary source education verification required within 90 days of start date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Six months as of Radiologic Technologist experience

  • BLS Certification

  • Interventional Experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to work various software applications.

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills

RT(R) - Registered Radiologic Technologist - NYS Office of Professions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
